#Erneuerbare

I switched from a British primary school to a French one in 1959.
History lessons were like through the looking-glass.
IIRC on both sides there was an approving form of words for "us" invading "them" and a righteously indignant one for "them" invading "us"!

I didn't quite understand it that way. My reading was "I don't want to tell you my name so here is the name of an unpopular Bible character you can use instead (and what diffence does it make anyway this is a work of fiction)"

In 2022 there were videos of Russian soldiers talking to each other by radio... and Ukrainians joining in the conversation.
I'd guess they're returning to that.

If Diana had buckled her safety belt she might have survived.
Only one person in that car was wearing a safety belt. He was the only one to survive.
And nobody forced them to drive at 110 kph on a 50 kph road.

President Zelensky warned that allowing Russia to seize territory would repeat mistakes made since 2014 and earlier conflicts. He said Putin cannot be stopped with concessions and claimed Russia is losing 30,000 to 35,000 troops a month.

OK, how to measure it?
- Let H = value of Homer's fleet in today's currency.
- Let F = the biggest fee earned by the person for their beauty (eg for a film, photoshoot etc.)
- Then Beauty in milliHelens = F x 1000 / H.
I suspect that microHelens, nanoHelens & picoHelens will be more useful.

Trump bets it all on fossil fuels.
That's nuts.

& communist parties.
Stalin's security guy, Beria, was famous for picking up random women in the street & having his way with them. Everyone was terrified of him ofc.
But when Stalin died, the rest of the governing team immediately killed him.
& lived happily ever after (by 1989 they were dead)

From ancient Roman lawmakers who created the foundations of many modern day laws is the expression
“Fiat justitia ruat caelum”
“Let justice be done, though the heavens fall.”
It expresses the principle that justice must be upheld regardless of consequences.

New Foreign Aid Rules Will Threaten Lives
The Trump Administration is expanding foreign aid restrictions on abortion, transgender health care, and DEI initiatives.
Decades of social science and health research show that curtailing access to safe abortions does not reduce abortions; it just makes them more dangerous. The Trump Administration’s new rules to "promote families and human flourishing” will increase that needless suffering and death.

CDs/DVDs are not forever. The plastic can degrade.
In a decade or two your data may be gone.

The most permanent medium is actually paper (if you exclude cuneiform tablets & the like).

To my American friends
I think you need to know what's going on beyond your borders
Your Ambassador in Poland (arguably one of your biggest allies in Europe) just had his pants pulled down by the Polish Prime Minister after having a meltdown in a public about a nomination form
Not a good look

It isn't "cars" per se. Where would we be without taxis & utilities? It's "nothing but cars" & "tear out the tramlines": EG US & France post WW2. Germany, Netherlands etc. sensibly kept them. Now France has rebuilt. Only the US has ruled out pedestrians!

Kamchatka is a volcanic region. Volcanoes will volcano, irrespective of anything humans do. It's not something specifically Russian, rather the contrary.

Pluviôse was the 5th month in the French Republican Calendar. The month was named after the Latin word pluviosus 'rainy'.
Pluviôse was the second month of the winter quarter (mois d'hiver), starting between the 20th and 22 January, and ending between the 18th and 20 February.

"They were obviously not trained at all. I've known many police officers in my life. These people were right off the streets."
"They had the professional demeanor of criminals."

Screenshot of an X.com post by The Associated Press (@AP) stating that dozens of immigrant families protested for better treatment behind fences at a Texas detention facility, where a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy and his father were sent after being detained in Minnesota. Below is a video thumbnail showing a crowd gathered outdoors along a fenced walkway; many people wear bright blue or red outerwear, and some hold signs.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.
