In Canada some stations let you check in on the app and then you just fuel up and drive away. That was my favourite before I got an EV.

100%. Cars and good e-bikes have have systems to prevent it from charging when itβs cold and cars warm their batteries up before charging, but if you force it in a lab like I do, you can completely kill a battery in like 10 cycles at -10Β°C if you fast charge it.
But if you only ever charge NMC to 4.06V ~80%, and cycle slowly (~3 hr charge/discharge times) it can last 5000+ cycles with the right additives. Thatβs like 1 million miles of driving.
Phone batteries are even quite a bit worse in that sense. They are usually LCO cathode and typically donβt live past 500-700 cycles but have very high energy density, whereas EVs are NMC or LFP and can hit much longer cycle life albeit slightly lower. Thereβs always some trade off.

Correct. Using a Lvl 2 charger only you may still have 90+% capacity after a decade of driving. Battery chemistry and quality are important factors too, but much easier on the system long term.
