Zero chance I would act on that though. Usually the smell is repulsive.
People don’t know know what’s in this bill because the opposition strategy is apparently to use its passage as something to campaign against.
It would have been great to get out in front of this, to put pressure on GOP senators and house reps that say they hate the bill but voted for it anyway.
Mr. Schumer, why do this after the bill passes? There should have been a modern, very online messaging strategy on every platform well before today.
How do you pierce the reality distortion field of the right wing online media ecosystem?
Not only of the details of this bill, but to explain their vision to America. Get us excited and motivated for their policy ideas. Talk about how their vision for something different will help everyday people.
Ignorance of the details is the goal on the right, because they want to jam this through even though Many GOP senators and house members hate it, and they don’t want to a rouse the public.
As such, it was the Dem’s job to raise that awareness.
They just don’t understand how to effectively counter the 24/7 onslaught of far right PR and messaging.
Most people probably have no idea what is even in this bill.
They need to figure out how to be blasting out their vision on every modern online platform on a daily basis.
Delaying this vote does absolutely nothing to stop it being passed. The house will pass this today regardless.
Speaking on the floor for a long time is great…. in the old media environment. In the very online decentralized media environment of 2025 this speech / stunt generates headlines for 1 day, and most people won’t even know it happened.
This is leadership in a nutshell. Focused on a manufactured PR appearance of doing something, but ultimately doing nothing.

It’s hard wanting to advocate for a Palestinian state while getting shut down and scolded for asking for help with things like “globalize the intifada” & “Zionism is evil”
The problem with the endless arguments about this topic is that there are more sentiments being expressed than just “compassion for the people of Gaza”.
Jews worried about antisemitism are talking about one thing, and this “compassion” viewpoint is a different thing.

These hearings are pointless political theater, and have been for quite some time. They get 5 minutes to attempt to generate sound bites and nothing of substance happens.
Arresting senators and bringing the marines and national guard to instigate at peaceful protests is exactly what you would do if you want to provoke mass protests and have a pretense to declare martial law.
