The presence of a dog in #Horror as a companion is scary by itself because there's always the chance that something bad will happen to the dog, no doubt while it is being loyal af.
Ambitious #writing ideas are simultaneously the most annoying and rewarding. And probably the least marketable but I'll worry about that later (or never).
What is the best way to launch a book without supporting Amazon or any other asshole company?

When in a writing session, I try to stop in the middle of a scene rather than at the end, otherwise I will put off writing the next scene. Because to sit down at my desk and be looking at a blank page is daunting no matter how much planning I might have done.

I learned about the subgenre #cottagegore recently and reckon it fits my book perfectly.

A wonky whittled spoon
My first #DIY spoon turned out alright, if a bit wonky and a bit thick about the handle, but altogether not too bad. Now a cup of tea and a little #writing before bed.
He definitely could climb a tree, of that he is certain, but he simply chooses not to. Too sappy.
Currently writing a non-horror story where the protagonist/narrator is a cat. It's about as far from a horror story as I have ever written. Anyway, I'm pretty sure he would have no love in his heart for Squirrel day.

"Even those who live alone and shun all that lies beyond their locked doors have experienced that empty embrace that wraps the darkest of nights. Cold thin arms that encompass weary minds. Dreamless, and without comfort, they tighten."
Happy hug day everyone!
I'm Connie Whittles, I don't only write Horror, but the horror I do write tends to be cosmic/supernatural.
Despite my irreligousness, my favourite 'international' day is pancake day, for obvious reasons.

Today I have drafted names and covers for the sequels to the novella I haven't even finished writing yet. Sometimes it's fun to have unrealistic expectations. No regrets.
#writingcommunity
Yes, I'm probably about halfway through the relatively short novella.
All the other characters are human, a group of twelve unique men and women of varying ages who all meet on a regular basis in their favourite cafรจ where the cat happens to live. If that sounds entriguing I can let you know once I finish writing it, as it's a novella I'm tempted to attempt self pub.
Yes! First-person present-tense.
The day is ending in this corner of the world, hoping to get a little writing done before bed though.
A pretty wonky wooden-spoon-in-progress
Currently writing a cosy novella featuring a feline narrator, and whittling a wonky wooden spoon.
#writingcommunity
All good, I'm looking forward to it :)
May I please be added to the list? <3
Oh now that could be a spoiler, but I'd say it's a combination of supernatural forces and human nature.

I often use a narrator who was present for the events of the story, and they are telling us what happened reflectively. Using this perspective allows me to allude to the experience of the narrator before they have described the events that 'changed' them.
#HorrorWritersChat
I've found the same thing crop up in a few stories I have written, and that is the false assumption that 'good' is an ethical standard maintained by the majority of people. In my fiction such as in the world right now, it often isn't.
#HorrorWritersChat
I'm Conrad Whittler, the horror story I have written is a bit of a genre blend, I'd call it a family cosmic horror story.
It wasn't influenced by a particular book, rather by a specific Scottish folktale and a few local stories I remember from growing up.

There are two things I need more of; time and sleep. If I had more time I'd definitely need to spend it sleeping.
I'm writing a novella. Do people read novellas? Do people buy them? I like a short book sometimes.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all the builders out there who are creating something with their own hands, whether they are using a pen, a keyboard, a hammer, or a carving knife. Looking forward to whittling many more worlds in 2026.
#writingcommunity
I plan in 2026 to finish #reading more #books than I start.
'Touch grass' doesn't mean go out and walk around the park with your shoes on. Go full hobbit or go home.
I almost always #write stories that are narrated by a character within the story. Usually framed as them telling the story for a reason. Inspired by the kinds of books I enjoy reading. ๐๐
Does anyone else do this? Does anybody else also like #reading these kinds of books?
Back on the editing train for a time. It's not as fun as the writing train, it's slower, and there are more stops. But hey, at the end is a properly finished book. ๐๐
