Very pleased to have succeeded in my amendment to restore $1.1 million to climate change response budget (with some reductions including a 500k cut to consultants spend so no rates impact).

The lack of leadership in Aotearoa-NZ is staggering. Our foreign minister has MAGA brain rot. No one is preparing the country for what the next 6 months of a full crisis will look like. Not politicians or journalists. The coverage of Amerisraeli aggression has been extremely muted.

Decided this morning is the morning that I move from Substack - Ghost seems to be most recommended but will cost me NZ$300/year just to have. Any other alternatives I should know about?

βNot the Kiwi wayβ: Auckland business associations call on PM to axe move-on orders
In an open letter to Christopher Luxon, the Karangahape Road and Uptown business associations said the orders send the βwrong message about our societyβ.
Get you some business association managers like Jamey from Karangahape Road, and Brent from Uptown πππ
And big shout out to the businesses behind them, who support doing what actually works to help those without homes rather than vice signalling.

Coalition currently busy cancelling all the detestable bills it had under way because of polls its leader doesnt care about
Remember NZ, they still want to do all this but they also want to get re-elected so they will do this after that if they succeed

Crazy video of 20 Tomahawks flying through the Iraqi Kurdish mountains near Sulaymaniyah (filmed by someone standing *above* them), seemingly fired from Navy vessels in the Mediterranean

Hooked on dopamine, fuelled by testosterone, powered by AI: this is the broligarchsβ war. By Carole Cadwalladr. Composite of Trump, Netanyahu and war imagery
Deep into the testosterone zone: the AI war
This is a war being waged with a new generation of AI-guided missiles. Gaza was the laboratory, this is the next stage, writes @carolecadwalla.bsky.social

it will most certainly invalidate both home and contents insurance in the NZ and Australian context
And ironically disobey the Resource Management Act on the way out regarding District and Unitary Plans ;)

That's another specific to location and species thing.
For me its 2 times a day in late spring/summer once a day Autumn. 1 or 2 per week winter
Depends on rainfall & soil mix
I use 70%pumice 20% bark 10% zeolite(clay) but your area & what ingredients are available at an affordable price my differ

How to treat them based on local information. What I've read and seen is that sometimes the zoning doesn't give a great indication to help with trees in pots.

Im based Auckland New Zealand. We have very mild winters so my trees stay outside all year round. Bonsai or developing bonsai is best kept outside. But some places need to bring some into a shelter or indoors depending on species & your winter. Best to visit a bonsai club & ask what species work &

I think they are doing all this in UK Spring repotting season so the trees will have time to establish before winter. I'm not sure how severe their winter is at the nursery, I think it all should be able to withstand winter. Corin & Greenwoood have been doing it for decades, so they have it in hand.

Reaching net zero by 2050 βcheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisisβ
Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits
Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK.
Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy.

Important issues in play here -- the stories told about MethaneSAT don't add up. (And they should add up to the $30M in public money that was poured into it)
And the people who won't tell us what happened play a key role in deciding what missions can launch from New Zealand soil.
