In my family, we call this a "half Winnipeg drive" cause it's half of the time to drive to Winnipeg for us

Not so much in my world. A couple of PhD's, but I am the one teaching the theology component of our Accreditation process with an M.Div & M.Th
I am in no way saying that these roles are a one to one match. But as a small e evangelical movement, we would kill for some more theologically rigorous pastors.
Certainly there are differences across traditions.
Also, I don't have a PhD.
I have had to find outlets in my remote setting to scratch itches (denominational work, mentoring other pastors, ect). But I also have alot of flexibility in our little church as to what I want to work on
This is not to make light of the trauma of loosing work & identity.
But you know who is having a hard time hiring? Churches! 10 years ago it took 23 applications to find a pastoral role. Now, I know a church that has been looking for 6 years
I know a lovely little church on a lake that is looking
But it will never be wise
Summer 2027!
If I had lots of cash, I would rent a house boat on the Shuswap and invite all thr nerdy, theological types i know to spend a weekend cruising the northern arms of the lake and talking obscure stuff
Thanks man
I can get behind agent language, where I struggle is were the HS is collapsed into a vessel of relationship and so ceases to be an object/subject of relationship
Also, being 4 hours from the closest library sucks when a book is $54 for 108 pages
Fine, mode of being.
The Athanasian Creed makes it seen like it can't be different though.
Will check out the essay
I could use some theological help.
I have never understood why theologians of like the likes of Barth equate the HS with the love that exists between the Father and the Son. To me, this equation of the HS with perichoretic love seems to collapse the unique personhood of the 3rd member
Arguably, completely logical.
Trump needed something to distract from Epistine, so he started a bloody war.
The war is now unpopular and needs a distraction, so he circles back to tarrifs.
He is all about "flooding the zone"
@telussupport.bsky.social Mobility has been out innour village today. Now I can't even log into accounts due to two stage authentication
I am spending this week preparing and delivering an online seminar on Theology for my denomination. And I can't help but think how amazing it would be to have a college in the interior of BC that actually taught Theology (and had a library I could pillage)
And blessed are you who visit
@jmcelroy.bsky.social Winnipeg is calling
As an outsider, I feel like separatism slows as oil climbs? Whose complaining when "we're" all " rich"
Conversely Canadians overwhelmingly think highly of others. When so much ministry is shaped by our southern neighbours, we should keep this in mind
Prof. Robert Pape:
"I have studied every air campaign since WWI... I've modelled the bombing of Fordow and regime change in Iran for 20 years... We are now in the grip of the escalation trap... This has never worked in over 100 years... Trump is up against the weight of history".
This was my second thought as soon as I heard the announcement. "Now I don't need to here "Dad, it's 6 am, did you really need to wake me up to go skiing"
Way better than BC, Family Day is so tepid.
Agreed.
But we in Canada shouldn't be too smug, there has been an awful lot of power horded up by the PMO in thr past 30 years.
It is my hope that we are starting to see the beginning of legislative reforms in the US โ like Congress using its oversight as a check on the executive bratch
His ideas are trash, but he is still an image bearer. We must not dehumanize the dehumanizers leat we become one of them
One way to fix this, sell the US Stock Markets. Punish the market and he might listen.
We are what we love
But it would be a province with nearly twice the GDP of Alberta
And to great beer.
One of the hardest things of the move into the interior was moving away from Twin Sails 2 years before Skytrain was completed
Honestly, I have escaped from ever having to do one.
That or I have no friends
Man, I love reading theology.
Sometimes, as a pastor, I forget that
