Man, when I post anything on X, it's like I'm speaking into a black hole. I super miss the interaction and collaboration amongst teachers from 2020-2021.

I'm really glad you joined this platform, Mr. Vice President! It would be awesome to see real discussion and not trolling like other politicians. Welcome! πΊπΈ
What has the Trump administration done with its first 100 days? Well, so much that some of it is easy to miss, even if you pay close attention to the news.

A great documentary episode for the Age of Revolution is on Amazon Prime "The Story of Europe" S1 E5.

Lesson 2 will take a few days and it is a project for students to collaborate. So, collaboration on day 1, and continuing that with lesson 2. This is a concentration of the Armenian Genocide. docs.google.com/presentation...

I'm starting a new unit when I go back next week - Worse than War. We will take a speed drive through some of the genocide during wars in the 20th century. I'm using sources from lots of places. π§΅π

@jonahg.bsky.social Just now on CNN you suggested a couple authors. I heard Applebaum, but what was the other author you suggested?
I'm definitely going to buy that one. Toledo has lived through the hits that Detroit has taken, but is definitely not what it could have been. Detroit is so sprawling it's almost like Toledo is a suburb.
What is the Toledo book about?
This has been an efficient and relatively engaging unit. #sschat π πΊοΈ
Next week we end with market economies using a simulation updated by @mrroughton.bsky.social

I wanted to do a case study for centrally planned economies, so we centered this lesson on the Chernobyl disaster docs.google.com/presentation...
We were ready to dig into traditional economies, so we did a quick group presentation. It was a lot of fun!

The next day was direct instruction on systems with notes and an exit ticket

In #econ we have been learning about economic systems. To start, we did a simulation called The Bead Game. It's always a hit.

Should we tack on one year of school and get "caught up" from the pandemic? In rural OH we took off 1 quarter, but there were tons of outages through quarantine. If we took a year to redo, would that do more benefit, or do we just need the workers? #sschat π πΊοΈ

I love X in many ways, but I get tagged by crypto dudes and I get porny follow requests. It's icky.
Side note- I'm not getting the trolls and "adult content" things on this app the way I was on X. Is that a just for now thing? Is there a bigger vetting process here?
I'm giving my a little shot of Hopeium this weekend by listening to this audiobook
Awesome. I read 2 of the 3 (not his newest). I did a study abroad last summer in Germany & Poland (you probably already knew that) and his work was cited there as a key resource to learn about genocide and fascism.
