This is the part that sticks with me about those funding cancellation letters. Funding cancellation is bad enough, but working in the effort to insult and belittle the investigator betrays the fact that is being done with vindictive and cruel intentions.
I just learned that there's a national graduate student crisis line - gradresources.org. Might be worth spreading the word as I'm pretty sure exactly *checks notes* zero grad students are doing well emotionally right now.

NEW: An NIH policy coming in the next week will target — and at least temporarily stop — funding outside the US, threatening thousands of projects and collaborations on topics like infectious diseases and cancer.
Some NIH staff have already been told to hold all subaward funds for foreign labs.

It’s important that we share our displeasure, disgust, and anger about the dismantling of our sciences. These actions can and likely will lead to more people dying.

A 50% cut to science funding (which is close to what Trump is proposing for NIH) would result in huge negative long-term economic outcomes:
*7.6% cut in GDP
*8.6% cut in federal revenues
*equivalents of making the average American $10,000 poorer
Funding science is an investment for ALL Americans!
📉 Researchers at American University's Institute for Macroeconomic and Policy Analysis found that a 50% reduction of federal science funding would make Americans $10k poorer.
