Very cool, thanks for sharing!
I'm downloading it even tho it doesn't have subs and I don't understand a word of Mandarin, maybe a Romero fan fluent in Chinese could sub it? Like you said in the posts it's probably the only copy that survived.
Eddie Romero apparently got to make a film with the Beijing Film company in the 1980s about Sulu king Paduka Pahala going to Beijing to meet Ming emperor Zhu Di, only to die from illness before coming home
And apparently the movie is just here now, on YouTube

Hello,
Sorry about that, it's back now, I know the website has had connectivity issues for the past few months, the webhost I'm using become very unstable lately and they aren't giving me any solutions so I will be moving the site to a more stable host in the coming weeks.
Odd.
Who knows for how long the VPN thing will work tho, seems it's just a matter of time until every country starts asking for IDs for all social medias and services online :/
Still works, I just didn't know I had to use it before today.
Thanks, yeah, I used Windscribe which is free and no age verification anymore.
OK thankfully using a VPN erases the age verification thing so I'm staying for now, thanks for the help!
I'm not even in the U.S., so not sure if a VPN would do anything?
Well, age verification just hit me, can't read my DMs unless I submit my ID and all that bs, guess it's goodbye Bluesky for me.
Banned by the Soviet Union, "The Eve of Ivan Kupalo" can be found streaming on Metrograph at Home through the end of the month and at @rarefilmm.bsky.social

And if you were looking for some other films directed by Noonan I also just added his 1995 film THE WIFE which has only been released on DVD so far (not the best transfer) and seems to be OOP now.

RIP Tom Noonan.
Here's a link for his last directorial effort, filmed 20 years after his hit WHAT HAPPENED WAS, THE SHAPE OF SOMETHING SQUASHED (2014).

DM me, Max, got any rarities?
I wish I had equipment to digitize but I don't unfortunately, maybe one day I can start my own digitizing rig or something haha, would be pretty cool, I'll send him a message tho and will let a friend in the Phillipines know as well.
Wow that's a lot of tapes to digitize, but that's a great thing they are willing to digitize them and give them work in the process, that guy is going to need some help tho for sure, is he just a one man operation?
A very good documentary on Georgian-Armenian director Sergei Parajanov, with excerpts of some of his films and an interview with the master himself filmed in a Munich hotel room in 1988.
