Just published one of my dissertation chapters assessing lead (Pb) contamination and associated effects on fungal communities in spruce-fir forest of the southern Appalachians Mtns: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/.... In short, increased soil Pb was associated with declines in ECM fungi.

Most mushroom poisoning cases come from edible mushrooms that were rotten or improperly stored prior to eating. In general, people are bad at assessing the condition of wild mushrooms.
