The wonder of Voyager: This is the most beautiful thread Iβve read in a long time.
Essential reading for all UK academics (and almost certainly applies elsewhere too) - thank you @masudhusain.bsky.social for articulating so clearly the risks that are posed to our core research and education work by this direction of travel
Wow interesting, thanks
Two photos of Anna, a young white woman using an electric wheelchair, wearing a blue lab coat that fits her well with tables and dry-lab equipment in the background. Text reads: "A team of researchers and designers led by UCL is looking for wheelchair users working in wet lab environments to user-test what is believed to be the first-ever prototype of a lab coat adapted for wheelchair users."
Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users?

On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me, a partridge in a pear tree.
Ate it.
Me (Polly Dalton) talking at a lectern next to a slide entitled βthe balance of attentional controlβ. Some audience members are visible in the foreground.
Just back from a fascinating day discussing #humanfactors in accident investigations with the Royal Society of Medicine and the British Academy of Forensic Sciences - interesting to see key cognitive factors like distraction and vigilance decrements coming up so frequently @roysocmed.bsky.social
Absolutely stunning white bird with brown/black markings. In the background is a wide grey plastic sheet that's streaked with brown.
Whew! Popping back here briefly to discuss a very eventful few days.
On Sat, a SNOW BUNTING appears at Hayward Regional. π± The bird is stunning & super-rare in the East Bay. Many birders go to see it. It's living its best life on a white/brown plastic culvert that it maybe thinks is snow? 1/

Photograph of book page which contains a short poem by Raymond Carver which reads 'And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.'
Late Fragment by Raymond Carver.
Absolutely this π.
One of the best explanations about this describes how 'nice culture' can be as harmful as 'nasty culture'- and much harder to call out because it casts the dissenting person as 'not nice'. But 'nice culture' stifles cognitive diversity.

Looks like nobody has made a Cognitive Psychology starter pack yet, so I made one!
Comment to get added to the list! All things cognition are welcome.

Do you ever get the feeling the worldβs gone crazy? With this in mind, I play the Flintstones theme in the style of the Russian classics.
Beautiful crow against a black background
It seems to me that the time is ripe for a Bluesky thread about howβand maybe even whyβto befriend crows.
