I’ve handled it fairly well. Probably because nothing physical happened to me. It’s the damage it did, to the two sisters it happened to, that affected my psyche. It’s far more common than anyone can imagine, unfortunately.
It’s not our shame. It’s the perpetrator’s shame.

I have one in my family. I haven’t spoken to him in 55 years. I wasn’t the victim, but two of my sisters were. One of my sisters and I were not physically abused because we were close in age and we protected one another.
We all suffered, though.
One never fully recovers from the trauma.
