Which is weird, since increases in fuel efficiency, wfh, and a growing preference for walkable, transit rich urban neighborhoods should have made this less important.

Because the Democratic leadership think it’s still 1978 and the price of gas is of huge political importance.

This is the Silurian hypothesis- www.cambridge.org/core/journal... (turns out microplastics and mass extinctions would be two of the most long lasting signs of human civilization).

The public health field has bent over backwards to assuage the β€˜concerns’ of anti-vaxxers for almost 3 decades now. It’s not working.

The way forward is stigmatizing these child-killing freaks and mandating that every kid gets a jab. Expand access, sure but that’s not going to move the needle.

the thing about "separating the art from the artist" is that it comes from academic circles where they were trying to separate an artist's views from an interpretation of their work as an intellectual exercise, not as a way to give people moral carte blanche to support shitty people

It's important to remember that the stock market is not reflective of the value of the comnpanies listed, it is a mood ring for rich people.

This is again hilarious because the β€œleaders” of business who are supposed to be so much smarter than the rest of us couldn’t see shit that was painfully obvious to us common folk.

This actually isn’t true. Farmer suicide rates track that of their larger demographic, rural White men, and farmers are on average fairly affluent.

There is no farm suicide epidemic.

If you line up rural & blue collar occupations by suicide rate, farmers are way (WAY) down the list.

It's a good talking point for shaking money out of the gov't though, so the farm lobby keeps talking about it.

It is absolutely insane that the US appears to have targeted desalination plants first – putting them onto the board. Iran seems to have already retaliated against one in Bahrain. This is one of the most obvious ways this could spiral.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

In January 2021, covid was killing a 9/11 with of Americans *per day*.

The reaction then and after was meh.

I am fully confident that once mass wet bulb (aka being cooked in your own skin) happens due to global warming, the reaction in America will also be meh.

this part I also didn't get but then I saw an NBC anchor goggling open mouthed like a 12 year who just saw boobs for the first time because the Iranian foreign minister was like"yes we will fight if you invade" and they really don't think of other people as having any sort of agency, it's wild

Chlorine dioxide is an industrial bleach for lumber and freaks like RFK give autistic kids enemas with it. Kids die from the practice. These people just want autistic kids dead.

β€œMAGA’s fundamental shared quality is a total lack of theory of mind for other people” is a theory that keeps getting validated by reality - look at almost every decision they’ve made in the war with Iran, and how they seem constantly surprised by the unanticipated actions of other parties.

Anna Sale: When news came out about your tattooβ€”the skull-and-crossbones design that resembles Nazi imageryβ€”you said it was fed from people researching your background who wanted to discredit you. Do you understand it to have come from national Democrats?

Graham Platner: We have our suspicions. The governor announced the campaign on a Tuesday and all of the negative stories began to drop Wednesday, Thursday, Friday of that week. You don’t have to do a lot of deep thinking to find connections there.

Here's his big "accusation:" That he "suspects" the DSCC "fed" the story about the Nazi tattoo to the media to "discredit" him.

As if the fact that HE HAD A LARGE NAZI SS TOTENKOPF TATTOO ON HIS CHEST FOR 18 YEARS was something which they should have kept mum about.
