You will be pleased to know then, that over the last year the government have made numerous anouncements for record funding for drug and alcohol treatment services. Both for funding the services and for research and development into new and innovative treatments and approaches.

PM secures new agreement with EU to benefit British people
UK secures new agreement with the European Union to support British businesses, back British jobs, and put more money in peopleβs pockets.
Yes, the wider measures announced last May, which this is part of, were said to add about Β£9bn / 0.3% to the UK economy annually by 2040.
I believe this SPS agreement will account for the bulk of that.

Interesting!
One of the 2 SDLP MPs from Northern Ireland has just asked a question in Treasury questions in the House of Commons.
I did not realise until now that they sit on the government benches/side of the House.
I mean, it makes sense. I just didn't know it happened.

Been here about 17 years and been to the dentist once. My son has only ever been once in his sister never!
Hoping we might see some new NHS dentists places opening up soon!

Also the number of full funded dental school places in England is being increased for the 1st time in many years.

Despite the core measure of banning tobacco sales for anyone born on or after 1st Jan 2009 being first proposed by Rishi Sunak (a move that never significantly progressed), the majority of Tories in the Lords, along with a handful of other peers, actually tried to remove this from the bill!

...will be banned (yes, these have actually happened).
Other nicotine products, non-nicotine vapes & future products will also be brought under regulations.
This includes extention of advertising bans to new nicotine & vaping products, & increasing enforcement powers of existing restirctions.

Well done Labour!
The landmark Tobacco & Vapes Bill passed its 3rd reading in the Lords last night.
I believe it only has government approved amendments, which means the Bill just needs final approval by the Commons before going to Royal Assent!
The bill marks a major shift in public health.

But there is also much more in these plans too.
New 1 year courses for 16 year olds before they move on to A/L/T-levels, for those who are not yet ready for that move.
A new 2yr employment route for those looking at jobs in Catering, Hospitality & Early Years.
This is really well though out!

Btecs fill that gap of smaller scale vocational education, where someone can do several subjects and a combination of A-levels & Btecs, should they wish.
The first V-levels are expected next year and should fill that same gap.
T-levels will also expand to Sport & Fitness, and Care Services.

The Tories had previously announced the end of funding for Btec courses without a replacement qualification, thinking A-levels (more academic courses) & T-levels (full-time technical courses with work experience elements) were sufficient.
But that was not true.

Still going through the Lords. They have sessions on it most Fridays at the moment.
But as it's a private members bill, rather than a government bill, I tend not to be tracking its progress as much as I do government bills.

On to vote number 6 of the night. This one on disagreeing with amendment 44.
I have no idea what this amendment is all about.
Just 3 more amendments after this to consider though, so max of 9 votes tonight...I think. Min of 6 if all the remaining amendments are all disagreed to by everyone.

On to a vote on rejecting amendment 41.
It crazy this has gone to vote. The amendment aims to replace the limit on number of branded uniform items with a fixed upper price limit - to be reviewed annually...which could be a HUGE amount of work for schools &save little extra money or even cost more!
