I’m just bummed it took me this long to just do it instead of trying to do what was considered ‘finished’. I would have done much more art if I had embraced the refined sketch 🙄
For a long time that’s what I did. And it made me not do as much art as I would have done if I had instead tried to enjoy the process and go my own way. I’m really happy with where my art is going now. Creating texture with lines. I enjoy using subtle color changes, creating crosshatches of color.
Just a ponder…I think the thing that most stagnated me as an artist was this idea that to be good I had to have crisp clean lines. I hate line work. I hate how my art looks when all texture and sketchiness has been removed. But it’s what was considered good so I did it and hated it.
Finally redrew Bel’s, my da ttrpg character, icon. Gave him more scars, more bags under the eyes, and some very cute double braids 😊

The setting is 19th century, the first fashion line I drew them in was their attempt at blending in with society, this set is their ‘I don’t give a shit about people knowing who and what I am’ I know it gives Christmas but listen…green and red is one of my favorite combos 😩
They were in exile for ten years and lonely so I gave them some puppies and a falcon ☺️ the borzois are Briar and Twig and the falcon is Queenie

#veilguardspoilers also idk if there will ever be a time talking with Emmerich to call out his fear of death bc everytime he mentions it he's confused about where it comes from and I'm just...em...honey...your parents died simultaneously and suddenly...of course you have trauma about dying
But also my poor well over a decade old laptop on the lowest settings I can get will still lag through battles and it's nice having a button to push in case I'm dying and don't know it yet lol
He most certainly started as an ice mage and continues that line of magic but death caller let's him be tankier. He's always in the thick of it anyway with the knife and orb gameplay, now he can be in the thick of it and not rely so heavily on dodging and potions when he can just siphon health >:)
Evoker still kind of disappoints me it just doesn't feel snappy (tbf I am playing on TouchPad so that might be doing it) I've finally tried out death caller and I think I've found Rath's niche
The little eavesdropping on elgar'nan and ghila'nain tree just gave me the lucanis dialog and I gasped. I love a threat to the mc's loved ones >:)
#veilguardspoilers Rathana is largely the comedy personality with a heavy dose of direct/pissed off. Despite being a mage he will throw fists, he punched out the first warden, and started a bar fight. He wears a facade of 'we'll do what needs to be done' but on the inside is panicking
I still don't love evoker...might play around with maybe just being a general elementalist... 🤔
Plot twist I went to fire and hated it back to ice but all the staff stats will be neglected--still, nice character study moment
I will say I've never had a da game where I've had so many 'oh shit' and 'wtf' moments. Moments of panic and surprise. It's the one thing I want out of a game lol, take me by surprise

I love bellara though too, lace was also a contender but the flirts just didn't sound like Rath, they made him sound out of character. Bellara's (I will never call her bel) flirts still line up though so... time will tell (it's probably lucanis, but my secondary I might try to make for bellara)
Idk yet who Rath will romance. Lucanis is a strong contender though, I didn't think I'd go for him because I assumed he was the suave flirty type which isn't my typical but he's not that at all..suave sure but not flirty.
