I’m not surprised, sadly. Our universities are still boys clubs. It’s not always illegal. There are rarely receipts. But so much of it remains the same, even if a few women break through.

Yeah. I think the fact that my partner is a programmer (and he worked in machine learning labs in college in the 90s) inoculated me against the hype. It also makes me admire the real advances and applications. But, yes.

In all seriousness- my spouse works (in part) on UI inclusivity and sans serif fonts have been the standard for some kinds of accessibility for SO LONG that my reaction to this is one all face palm. just another day on this stupid timeline. But if the world is a tragedy, I also want font humor.
All I care about is that this story brought out so many font nerds that the NYT turned off comments. I know. Because as a font nerd I didn't get to add my comment.

If universities would prioritize smaller classes and fewer bells and whistles like third-party technology contracts, a significantly bigger number of PhDs would find a position in higher education.
