Yeah Iβll vote for you, as long as we can get nice level boarding and shelters with heaters and lights
Ok, so we've let the supermarket build a parking lot larger than their building's footprint (adjacent to a double-tracked 24/7 heavy rail line).
After 3 years of a quarter of the parking lot being unused, how do we convince their corporate owners to not restore the excessive parking?
After voters approved funding in November, the Charlotte-Lake Norman Red Line regional rail project is moving forward in earnest. Expect all-day, everyday, hourly bidirectional service similar to Tri-Rail and DART's Silver Line | @wsoctv.bsky.social -

That makes sense. You could also remove the dot from the line display so itβs clear it doesnβt stop there
I think graying them out could be confusing for some passengers. I just wouldnβt show them.
That design is a lot better than the scrolling signs they have at CUS though, I hate having to wait and make sure my stop is on the second half
Quick sketch but here's how I'd do it instead
Iβd maybe do local/express in white as well but thatβs just better
Yeah now that you mention the background colors I can see why thatβd be a problem
Theyβre a lot nicer - and the platform ones when a train is boarding is nice too. I think this is preparation for the line renaming?

For sure - now is the time to shoot for the moon. The best time to do substantial Amtrak improvements was 40 years ago. The second best time is now
This is good - but shouldnβt take this long.
Iβm aware thatβs less of an Amtrak issue and more of a United States construction issue, but still.
New displays on the signs at OTC.
Looks nice! I wasnβt a fan of the proposed line renaming options but Iβd imagine this is preparation for that.
The US is thus already struggling with actually getting rail lines under construction. The administration is making the whole situation more difficult.
Our research @urbaninstitute.bsky.social lays this all out:

Transit is a great medium-term way to attack foreign energy dependence, and yet, here we are, shooting ourselves in the foot, again!
This is why we canβt let Lakewood Balmoral dictate the land-usage on Broadway.
"Just take transit" I say to the guy who could only afford to live in a car-dependent suburb because we priced everyone out of the city by making it illegal to build more city.
The gas shortage signature Ventra card is going to go so hard

Trolleybus in Seattle
Electric Caltrain
TriMet lightrail
If gas prices are going to the moon, maybe it's time for places to start finally funding an alternative
The problem with rail electrification is that we might ruin breathtaking built environments such as this one with overhead wires.
Real patriots ride the train.
It's never been more important to get involved with the fight for mass transit and multi-modal infrastructure. We cannot continue to center our economy or our collective mobility on such a volatile and finite resource.

Dearest Abigail,
It is day 4 of the Panama City Siege. We are in dangerous short supply of Jagermeister. There are rumors of a Fireball cache at the Holiday Inn. Weβve had to resort to bottled water for the t shirt contests. The DJ is rationing their molly. The mood is grim
My dearest Martha, we took heavy losses today at the Battle of Senor Frogsβ¦

It's a good thing we have walkable neighborhoods, robust public transport, and high speed trains in the US, otherwise these insane gas prices would be a real problem
