The 'u' pipe is a trap. It is there in case you drop something down, like a ring, you can retrieve it. Otherwise you can kiss it good bye. I like the looks of the metal pipe but they rust out and cause leaks. I would have stuck with the corrosion resistant plastic they last so much longer. Cheers

I had shingles once, horrible experience. I never want to feel that again. I recently became eligible for the shingles vaccine. I'll be honest, the reaction my body had to the 1st shot was negative. It messed me up for two days. Still, much better than actually getting shingles!!!!
