The most insidious thing about this “parents should have these conversations with their kids” is that MOST STRAIGHT PARENTS ARE NOT EDUCATED ABOUT GAY PEOPLE! Certainly not as much as the queer people involved in these films.
That’s why we have chemistry experts teach chemistry, for example.
Kids have gay families.
Some kids are gay.
Gay is not a taboo subject that must be discussed in hushed voices behind closed doors, lest it scar a child’s soul.
Scrubbing gay content is shoving us back in the closet. It’s priming America to treat gay people the way we’re treating trans people.
“Protect women and “protect children” are the rallying cries of bigotry. We’ve watch in real time how the right’s campaign of protecting children from “force transition” has expanded to stripping care and rights from adults, all orchestrated by pedophiles and rapists.
This is the cry of the bigot.

But war is chock full of them. Little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.”
