Crowds at Dolores Park for the protest

Crowds at Dolores Park for the protest

Mom & I went to protest in Dolores Park today. My picture doesn't do it justice - the park was full of people, despite it being a workday.

It felt good to be out with my fellow San Franciscans rejecting state terror. This is a country of immigrants and rule of law, and we are the better for it.

Just watched a Zoox run a red light at 18th and Valencia. I see them do weird stuff all the time. This company is not ready for prime time!

But also, @sfbayferry.com, why do you go by the marina instead of the other way around Brooks Island? It's SO SLOW for the last 20 minutes or so and feels like a fundamentally unserious approach to what could be a transformative & low carbon way to cross large distances quickly.

Happy MLK Day! And thank you @sfbayferry.com for expanding ferry service to Richmond, a city with so much inspiring civil rights heritage. My family loves taking the ferry!!

Peeved at the medical system never believing I'm not pregnant.

I said I'm definitely 100% not pregnant, but:

I still had to pay out of pocket for a pregnancy test prior to getting my IUD replaced.

And I still had to give an exact date for my last period prior to my mammogram.

Just believe me.

Thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted into the Emerge California Class of 2026! We need to get better at addressing hard societal problems - and having more women in politics is essential to that. So honored to join in this sisterhood of womxn committed to action.

"Portable" Mortgages Could Unlock the Housing Market, Says Economist Justin Wolfers
"Portable" Mortgages Could Unlock the Housing Market, Says Economist Justin Wolfers The Lead with Jake Tapper, CNN, November 13 2025 What happens when homeowners can take their old low mortgage rate with them to their next house? This conversation tackles the rising buzz around…

Portable mortgages are like your cell phone plan: when you upgrade the phone, the plan comes with you. Let your mortgage follow you to the next house. That unfreezes moversβ€”especially downsizersβ€”and unlocks inventory.

Lemme explain why I love this idea:

A public health awareness graphic titled β€œHIV ENDS WITH US” emphasizes the life-saving impact of PEPFAR (the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

The top half features an image of an African woman lovingly kissing a baby on the cheek. The background is a warm orange gradient. Text explains that PEPFAR has transformed maternal and child HIV outcomes since 2003, saving lives and ensuring babies are born HIV-free. It highlights that less than 0.1% of the U.S. federal budget funds this program.

Key statistics are presented in bold:

7.8 Million babies born HIV-free through PEPFAR
1.1 Million pregnant women and children currently on treatment (2024)
It warns that without HIV treatment:

1 in 3 babies born to mothers with HIV will contract the virus
1 in 2 babies with HIV will die by age 2
At the bottom, it states that without PEPFAR, by 2030:

1 million babies could be infected with HIV
500,000 child deaths could occur
Sources include the U.S. Department of State and The Lancet (May 2025).

First they came for abortion.

Now it’s birth control, cancer screenings, prenatal care.

The Supreme Court just ruled states can block Medicaid patients from getting care at Planned Parenthood.

Funding is a major, underappreciated contributor to the high construction costs and long timelines that hold back electrification. In our new policy paper, Against Patchwork Funding, we propose a smarter way to fund rail: Multi-year Investment Frameworks. 🧡 calelectricrail.org/against-patc...

I 'played' one of their 'games' recently. It felt more like an interesting exercise.

And yet: we need to get better at solving hard problems, and linear expert driven plans aren't cutting it.

So I wonder if exercises or games might be part of the puzzle, alongside people's assemblies or whatever?

Wow, that was the biggest protest I've ever been to. Couldn't see the end in either direction. Also the most diverse, across multiple dimensions. Way to go, #SF!

Icing on the cake was the hula performance at Yerba Buena Park after. We celebrate diversity and Indigenous culture & power!

Trump rescinds Emtala guidance protecting women in need of emergency abortions Abortion rights supporters say scaling back the Biden administration’s guidance will endanger pregnant patients’ lives

Trump just quietly erased guidance that told hospitals they had to save pregnant women's lives.

That's rightβ€”they don't care how many women die or are forced into health crises to advance their anti-abortion agenda.

I won’t let this fly under the radar.

Help, @warrenjwells.bsky.social ! My aunt in San Rafael says when they took away a lane of the Richmond bridge to make it for bikes it created a giant car traffic jam, and only 20 people use the bike lane each day, so clearly that's not worth keeping let's get rid of it.

What do I tell her???

When can we get this built in SF?

Sign the Petition Restrict San Geronimo Valley Road to Non-motorized Usage Only (Until Further Notice)

In light of a 4 teen girls killed in a tragic crash last week, along with another 2 teen boys seriously injured last year in nearly the same spot, residents have introduced a petition to close San Geronimo Valley Road to car traffic.

It's an excellent idea.
