ooooh temu figured out it's now shorthand for "cheap off-brand garbage" and is not happy about it
Same thing happened on Monday night as well (unfortunately by me). The interpreter refused to move on until the correction was made (which I did as soon as it was pointed out and offered an apology), and even then he seemed reluctant to continue.
With three different midfield combinations across the first three games, Joe Montemurro has his choices cut out for him in deciding what the midfield trio looks like when Australia faces North Korea on Friday night #WAC2026 #Matildas #woso

33 years ago today, Mr. Burns hired a group of strike-breakers — “the kind they had in the ‘30s.”

I've told the little gnawing voice in my head that keeps telling me North Korea will win to do so. It refuses to stop.
This is the greatest ever episode of The Simpsons. Don't @ me
Albo's dog getting ready for the big game or some shit
He's just sent us to war, people can't afford normal things, and billionaires are encouraging the racists to go fkn nuts while we get robbed. How is this different to "Scomo's" curry, Bunnings and Sharkies posting? These pricks are popped out of the same mold in the same factory.
Oi Aus Gov, pay attention. We have a crap ton of wind and sun to take advantage of here as well. Let's do it before I burn myself when it inevitably becomes 33 degrees in freaking winter in Sydney
Part of me likes the idea of cutting this tactical timeout loophole out of football which has become far too prevalent in recent years as the stakes of each game (and the moments within it) become higher and higher. That being said, players should still be able to get drinks during these stoppages.
In case you can't tell by listening/watching our latest episode, I'm really scared that North Korea can beat Australia
So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion.
That's $1 billion per day.
$41,666,667 per hour.
$11,574 per second.
Thousands of lives lost.
People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.
And yet China fans can turn up in shirts emblazoned with text indicating they are part of the Sydney chapter of the Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, and nothing happens.
I also remember the coach last night said Taiwan in the press conference at least once.
I said this to someone a couple of weeks ago. In the general Australian sporting contest, a World Cup means something (as long as it doesn't become ICC levels of bastardised.) The Olympics (even qualifying) means something. The Asian Cup mostly doesn't in the same way. And it sucks.
And that fifth/sixth place finish is of course reliant on Australia winning it's qualifier game, and not having to go to the inter-confederation play-offs which are kind of a crapshoot if I understand the format correctly.
This would result in a fifth/sixth place finish which will push women's football back yet again in this country because "we should be winning it" because there's a lot of casual snobbery/ignorance (or insert appropriate descriptor here) about the strength of women's international football in Asia.
Definitely. I'm also bitter that I think North Korea can legitimately beat Australia and make it look easy while doing so, and that Australia is going to have to go to the Gold Coast for a World Cup qualifying game.
On the plus side, I reckon there's a ton of people who are happy they got the Matildas QF tickets early because there will be a ton who miss out.
Also, RIP to Stadium Aus crowds. Going to look horrendous in an 80k seat stadium with no Tillies.
following @brisbaneroar.bsky.social’s offer for the five Brisbane-based Iranian players to train with them, both @sydneyfootballclub.bsky.social and @wswanderersfc.bsky.social have told me they’d love to invite the Sydney-based players to train with them while they settle in too. #AFCWAC #ALeague
When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project
The Group Stage is over and the knockouts are set as we wrap up the two Group C games amidst some broader discussions about the tournament so far.
Quarter-Final previews to come over the next couple of days.
Following Japan's 4-0 victory over Vietnam, the Philippines have advanced to the knock-out stage of #WAC2026. Our quarter-finals (in order of date/time) are Australia vs DPR Korea (PER), China vs Chinese Taipei (PER), Korea Republic vs Uzbekistan (SYD), and Japan vs Philippines (SYD)
I believe one of Vietnam's substitutes was a concussion substitute, which automatically allows Japan an additional substitute.
Make that a fourth conceded for Vietnam, and they would now need to score two goals to advance.
Vietnam have conceded a third. It is no longer possible for it to reach the drawing of lots tie-breaker. As it currently stands, the Philippines will be heading to the knock-out stage #JPNvVIE #WAC2026
Japan have made it 2-0 over Vietnam just after the half-time break. With no cards currently conceded by Vietnam, we are currently set for the drawing of lots to decide whether it is Vietnam or Philippines who advance to the knock-out stage. #JPNvVIE #WAC2026
Chinese Taipei are currently leading 2-1 after a penalty just before the break went off the post and rebounded into the goal off the back of Panthoi Chanu #INDvTPE #WAC2026
(In all of my excitement at the free kick I just witnessed, I forgot about the goal on MD1 against Vietnam. My apologies)
