Or like something we *shouldn’t feel* in a world on fire.

Rob Reiner spoke at the most recent No Kings Day in Santa Monica. He deftly spoke to and neutralized a counter protestor who was trying to silence the crowd. He spoke with empathy, eloquence, and fire. I fanboi-ed listening as a huge Princess Bride fan. I’m absolutely gutted to hear of his murder.

This should be front pages news at EVERY major news network.

Also, I just relistened to your Biggest Loser episode with my partner who hadn’t yet heard it. It made watching Fit for TV feel so soft on the criticism (but I was really glad to see your voice getting a broader audience).

I sat next to Jillian at a restaurant last year. She looked like such an unhappy person. Past me - who struggled with eating disorders - used to think her abuse was motivating. Now me is outraged at the influence she’s had on people’s opinions of how to treat fat people. I wish I told her so.

At a time in history when the most influential leaders of the U.S. need to stand up loudly and clearly for the rule of law, democracy, and decency, they are leading the charge in the opposite direction — fawning over the most dangerous authoritarian America has ever witnessed.

I’m always searching for tiny moments of joy…watching the pup chase a squirrel in the backyard, feeling the cat purr on my chest, sending memes to friends, snuggling with my partner, or singing 90s hits with her kiddo. I’m also spending time in the trees, even though getting there from LA takes ages

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.
