This is all vague and even contradicts itself.

These aren't community guidelines. Guidelines are supposed to be clear. This feels intentionally vague to give mods extreme censorship powers, and is extremely open to abuse.

Not yet, but it is getting close! I just got the replacement floppy controller in the mail yesterday, now I need to get the power supply in order. After that I'll be able to throw some electrons at it and see if anything explodes!

Oof. Both the 12v and 5v rails are short on the power supply. Hope it didn't do too much damage when it died. Looks like I'm going to have to dig way deeper than I expected into this old IBM.

IBM 5160 floppy controller card, tests short on positive 5 volt rail.

Bad news: looks like the floppy controller card in my new IBM 5160 is short on +5VDC. Pins B3 and B29 go straight to ground.

Took the lid off the 5160, looks like it has a good assortment of cards. Western Digital disk controller, Atronics EGA card, Precision IO card, and the standard floppy controller. Surprisingly clean in here, despite the terrible cable management.

Was given an IBM PC 5160 at work today... This thing is older than I am! Looks like it is in fair condition, but has had some upgrades. It has a slim 5.25" and 3.5" floppy instead of the original full height 5.25" floppy drive. Missing some screws, just like me.
