Join me for another CAPCOM ZELDA TRILOGY speedrun, starting tomorrow around 10am ET!
This really is one of the coolest things I ever worked on π₯Ή
Received! Thank you so much!
I have sent out friend requests to everyone (and @'d on here the one person I couldn't) and messages to the folks I am looking for for these showcases! Check your inboxes/Message Requests/Friend Requests when you can!
@vjsmyth.bsky.social sorry to ping you this way, but could you send me a discord friend request? I'm AmberCyprian on the platform! I'd love to get in touch with you for Passion for Puzzles on GDQ Hotfix!
If your discord username is incorrect, I will try to find an alternative means of contacting you (including potentially just @'ing you here on bsky if that's all I can manage), so please keep an eye out for me attempting to contact you!
LOL Discord is already asking me to do a captcha and I'm only 4 friend requests in.
Gonna start today by sending a bunch of discord friend requests to runners for the following:
Passion Project - March 20th: Quirky Controllers Pt. 1
Passion Project - April 3rd: Quirky Controllers Pt. 2
Passion for Puzzles - April 11th & 12th
I promise I'm not a bot!
Yeah, I do genuinely understand your perspective here, and when I'm not public facing and in company I know are not bothered by usage in those contexts, I'm okay with it. I think it's more when I'm in a public facing role where I don't/can't know everyone's stories where I feel more strongly.
It's also incredible how easy it is for me to typo on my phone, jeez.
Yeah! I've been weaned off of it for a long while now, and while it took a little thinking at first, it's gwnuinely incredible how second nature it became within a month or two. Some folks will take longer than that to adjust, but it's not *as* difficult as people believe it to be to use new words.
Like, I'm not gonna fry someone like the 6 o'clock news for slipping into old vernacular once in a while, we all likely have un-learning to do after all, but I *do* notice when people don't try at all. Effort matters to people, trying is the bare minimum you can do here.
Also, aside from ableist language choices, I'd advise not using "guys" as a gender neutral term. It isn't! While I am fine with "guys" and other masc terms used towards me, (I'm transmasc non-binary) many people are not cool with it! "Folks", "y'all", "friends", "chat", and other options exist!
For years now, FPE has advised runners to move away from language like this because the words you choose to use do matter! Instead of saying something like "I'm so OCD" try something like "I'm very particular about this". "Absurd" in the place of "insane" or "crazy" is also my go to.
This kind of change has been very strongly hinted at before some marathons and told to me very directly before others. Aside from that, it just shows good solidarity with neurodivergent speedfriends who probably don't much like hearing that language used so heavily in commentary.
If you can, try to start working less ableist language into your descriptions (you will hear me use "wild" and "ridiculous" a lot nowadays for this very reason).
PSA for speedfolk that are submitting to marathons, big or small:
Many marathons are moving away from words like "crazy," "insane," etc. - other ableist words like such.
Thought I managed to flip my sleep pattern back to something reasonable....then I fell asleep at 7:30 PM and woke up 6 hours later at 1:30 AM.
This is not reasonable, body. What the hell are you doing?
I got a run into GDQ's stage at PAX East!
I'll be doing manipless PokΓ©mon Blue any% NSC on Sunday, March 29.
Am I planning things far in advance? Yes, yes I am. Am I also doing 8 consecutive weeks of GDQ appearances starting on 3/20 and part of that is being at PAX East? Also yes. I do not want to have to worry/stress about this later, so we plan ahead now LOL
Hey hey!
Me and
@tomomodachi.bsky.social
are gonna be doing Skyward Sword Randomizer on #FrostFatales 2026 live in studio!
The event is live and starting soon on twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
I have figured out a very rough idea of a schedule for what I'm now calling Passion for Puzzles for 4/11 and 4/12. Will start outreach over the next week to runners.
I've also got a good idea for my March 20th and April 3rd shows for Quirky Controllers, so will also do outreach for that this week!
Thanks so much to everyone who submit to the show, I get to meet and work with so many incredible people because of Hotfix and it's been such a genuinely rewarding experience in my life.
--booking folks for April while I'm at it (I only have one show date in March because of the way other events landed, but THREE shows in April). Just gotta mix and match things just right. I hope people enjoy this sort of thing as much as I do, I love this stuff so much.
I'm watching through some of the Quirky Controller Submissions I've gotten from people for Passion Project, and I'm thoroughly entertained and amazed by people's talents and knowledge. So much so, I probably have more than just one episode's worth of showcases to work with, and will probably be--
Oh god, maybe I should go back to sleep then.
I'm awake now, what year is it?
I'm gonna be running DuckTales 2 on Thursday the 26th! Woo hoo!
23 hours awake, and I am finally in bed and going to pass out for a while.
See y'all in however long my body allows me to sleep.
