Rice ARGONAUTE 2 (AGO2) binds the small RNA miR167g-3p and facilitates its repression of the target gene SNAP32 during rice ragged stunt virus infection. AGO2 also associates with virus-derived small RNAs. miR167g-3p accumulation and SNAP32 suppression correspond with reduced viral levels, whereas decreased miR167g-3p or elevated SNAP32 increases susceptibility.
