My sister @mad4booksjane.bsky.social is taking an extended sabbatical from her store for health reasons. In the meantime, she needs help with bills both for herself and the shop. If you can spare anything, it would mean the world to us. Even just resharing would be a great help.

The 4 am wakeups from nightmares that are more trauma coming out, make me wonder if vehemently avoiding horror in books and film all these years was not the path. Maybe, just maybe, the countermove is consume it to fight the other?
Sincerely,
"Tired of trauma finding more doors to infiltrate"
Can we stop making live action remakes of everything and start making muppet remakes of every film and musical
It isn't perfect by any means, but if you need a show to binge, can I recommend Hallmark's The Way Home to you? I wasn't expecting much, and it surprised me. Reminiscent of Outlander (it's PG cousin, haha) and the old days when Hallmark was making decent movies.
Writers: yes, you are still a "real" writer if you
- have never published anything
- have no readers
- didn't write anything this month
- didn't write anything this year
- can't articulate words anymore
- can only float and mournfully wail
- were murdered ten years ago on this very spot
Today, I also forgave myself because I recognize and hold space for the girl who was bending her person to the will of a religious ideal and a narcissist. Guess you did fail, mother dearest... since I'm not a homemaker and I hate cooking. But I'll always remember X Sugar = Powdered Sugar π.
Today, I recalled the year my mother shamed me to every guest who attended Thanksgiving breakfast because I used granulated sugar instead of confectionery sugar in the cinnamon roll icing that year (by accident). "I've failed as a mother."
C'mon Men. Step up and do your part, since you care so much.
I have needed to be reminded recently to look around me & remember things I am grateful for. And not because it's Thanksgiving, but of course today too... my shop gives me purpose, community, & somewhere I can feel safe/seen. There are tough days ahead, but this shop is my touch of magic & hope. π
I may have reached my reading goal (lots of rereads this year for comfort), but according to StoryGraph, I have about 2700 pages to read to complete my page goal. If I can finish my 4 current reads, I'll be happy. How's everyone else doing with their 2024 read goal?
Out of all the people who can go fuck themselves in 2025, and there are many, these four guys can go fuck themselves the most www.thebookseller.com/news/new-pub...
in my opinion, to bring others along for the parade. (3/3)
from the norm... I'm tasked with convincing others to come to "Pleasantville" and be the change. Essentially, be a fellow weirdo, stick out like a bedazzled bohemian mermaid among the humanoids. It's one thing to deconstruct and arrive at your destination. It is another monster entirely, (2/3)
When you are raised (ahem programmed) to want and seek a specific ideal for a relationship, how do you go about creating your actual desire? I ask this because the 1950s were the indoctrination used, and it is where I live too. I have come to terms with living here, but to not only strike out (1/3)
It is quickly becoming worse for my wallet and great for my collection that I found your press on here π .
Post by Charlotte Clymer: Every transphobic argument can basically be boiled down to: "I actually don't know the science at all or have a good argument here, but trans people challenge my long held view of the world and it's very uncomfortable and everyone should be expected to move around my discomfort."
Thisβ¦this is it. In a nutshell, yes.
I needed to write. I haven't quite decided if it was a good or bad idea to start a Substack... but I'll freak out later, I suppose.

Advice from a Literature teacher and resister: read your history, but donβt forget your literature.
Resistance is woven through the words of abolitionism and feminism and anti-fascism. Read the history and the literature.
