Surely that's just a spoilheap? π
A little (accidental) skull on a Brill/Boarstall glazed sherd from Oxford, for Halloween.
I would have been retired at my age only a few years back, but now I have six more years to go. Luckily I'm self-employed, but I should be teaching the next generation and I can't do that in case they take work from me!
It also means that older people are hanging on to the jobs they do have, creating a block to younger members of staff who want to move up. This uplift of the pension age isn't great for anyone of any working age.
The Anglo-Saxon Agricultural Revolution in Norfolk has been published. My paper on Middle Saxon pottery in East Anglia, written during the Covid lockdowns, is included! An open access pdf is available: www.archaeopress.com/Archa.../Pro...
The fields around Leiston Abbey are producing so much new information about its hinterland and earlier land use as well. The pottery assemblage alone is huge! Very happy to be working on the project with Oxford & Cotswold Archaeology. oxfordcotswoldarchaeology.org.uk/news/the-mov...
My first thought was "more Early Saxon stuff"! Deffo IA then?
Five of my papers are in there, but I guess it's part of the price we pay for Open Access.
French scientist denied US entry after officers find phone messages criticizing Trump
We had one in Long Melford, Suffolk. Stone coffin containing gypsum. It was a bugger to move and it just sat in the store for years.
They do though! They recently published 'Building the Late Medieval Suffolk Parish Church'. We (NNAS) are publishing the Norfolk version. Admittedly the distribution was just to members for them I think, but the precedent is there. Also there's Boydell & Brewer?
Publish a 2nd edition? If it was about Norfolk I could probably help with that, but maybe Suffolk Institute of Archaeology would be interested?
Can I be added too please? Not many medieval archaeologists on here yet!

A small selection (mainly rims) of pottery from a single context at a rural site in east Suffolk. These are most likely from the remains of a midden. The latest dates are later 13th to mid-14th c., suggesting that the related household(s) were abandoned during this period.
They missed out Handmaid's Tale π

The jury is in, water privatisation has failed. So I'm introducing a bill to Parliament that would democratise water ownership. On 28th March, MPs can put public ownership of water on the table by backing my bill.
Ask your MP to be there.

With 38 million birds lost from UK skies in 60 years, the Big Garden Birdwatch is more important than ever. Whether you see one bird or none, your observations will help protect the species we love.
We have very similar examples from the Lackford Anglo-Saxon cremation cemetery in Suffolk, UK.

#MondayMotivation Very good to see the new (unofficial) Blue Plaque to Sutton Hoo excavator Basil Brown, recently put up via local fundraising in his Suffolk village of Rickinghall.
