If we'll tell him there's oil at the finish line, he'll be unstoppable
Very impressive sprint by Godon for second as well. Still don't gst why Decathlon didn't fight to keep him.
Someone stop this Astana superteam #ParisNice
I think priority 1 was keeping Jonas safe at the front. Sprinting with Zingle if he could hang on was a bonus.
(I'm not overreacting)
Jorgenson will win MSR. Will bomb the Poggio descent while Pog and MvdP look at eachother
Yes Morg!
Especially since a rosterspot isn't really worth that much since the introduction of Dev riders riding Pro and .1 races for the main team. Of course that comes with limits, you definitely shouldn't pay a high wage or promise spots in WT races.
I also think there is a bit of a moral obligation of letting Kruijswijk finish his career at the team if he wants. Him and Gesink sticking with the team after Rabobank left was such a key part in the team's survival, that I feel is worth rewarding them a roster spot.
Like I said, I don't think Kruijswijk should be at this race, and if he is, they should've brought an actual climberm But I do think there is value in having him be part of overal team that Graat can't bring.
UAE has 10 riders 30 or older.
I think your underestimating someone like Majka had on the team. There is a reason you practically don't see elite sportteams without veterans.
That's a separate issue. Visma is already lacking in climbers a bit, and for some reason they decided to sent none of them along with Jorgenson. And if Kruijswijk should still be riding WT races (at least those with the strongest fields) is definitely a question that can be asked.
Sports isn't a computergame, where you just collect the most talented 20 year olds to create a superteam. You need some veterans to guide them.
A DS is different than a teammate, there is always a bigger distance. Learning lessons from someone who spends months on the bike with you, who you share a hotelroom with and who is still actually in the race, but also who doesn't hold any hard power over you is needed.
I think it is a retirement contract, but I also think there is some value of having some experienced guys on the team, even if it doesn't show a lot in the races.
Maybe, but it doesn't make it any less true
MvdP, aren't you supposed to be saving energy for MSR? #TirenoAdriatico
To be fair, if I had to guess on the RB rider of this team to hit the deck ๐
Dutch commentary first said it was Roglic as well, before correcting themselves ยฑ 10 seconds later
Although as someone who has had open heart surgery 6 years ago due to a congenital heart defect, my perspective of "scary heart surgeries" is slightly skewed ๐
I think the heart surgery is actually a lot less scary than it sounds. I'm 99% sure it's the same thing Gesink had, and he was back in top shape the next season.

Even the BrenGOAT isn't completely immune to a badly timed mechanical or someone doing a Maciejuk
Not unless Brennan wins MSR, PR and RVV
Just look in the comments of the post that Goldblue quoted.
Still wish they would learn of this nifty thing called picture-in-picture, though.
*time, not team
Got to give it to this director. Finally one makes the sensible choice and keeps the camera the majority if the team on the group that actually is still competitive #ParisNice
