Oh gosh, I finally completed Wizardry Gaiden 3. While the base game is very good, there's a harsh difficulty spike at the end.
But the postgame extra dungeon is just frigging HELL!
Cool that I got to defeat my evil lord main character from Wiz2, but GOSH, these fights sucked...

Another thing I liked is how they implemented "multiple dungeons" without losing the classic series' structure, but also made it feel comfortable enough in how to reach next dungeon. And those being references to classic Wizardry's Llylgamin kingdom really surprised me when I realized. owo

Also the fan translation is very rough, and I'm using a japanese item list to help, due to the horrendous item naming in translation.
But the translation still spares me pulling out phone to Google Translate camera every 5 seconds at the story. Of which this game actually has, unlike Gaiden 2...

Don' be fooled, though. It IS still a Gaiden series game, and as such has the extremely annoying trend of making a Thief/Ninja 100% essential to even advance in the dungeons.
I dislike this since Gaiden 1, because Thieves (not Ninjas) were weak, in Wizardry 1 to 3 early game when treasure sucks.

Currently going through Wizardry Gaiden 3: Scripture of the Dark, and I'll say... This game is good! Better than I expected, to be honest! owo
It did some interesting "horror fridge" twist on their references to the originals here... 👀

Finally decided to clear Wizardry Gaiden 2.
I'll not lie, this might have been the weakest game of the franchise on the story/lore side. When I realized all the grinding was rewarded with nothingburger for story progression, I just rushed to get it over with. 😑

Just cleared 1st playthrough of Wizardry Gaiden 1: Suffering of the Queen (JP version for RetroAchievements). And upon retrieving the macguffin, Google Translate surprised me with the sad and suffering queen now being a joyful and expressive king!

Honestly, I just wish you don't stumble on toxic fake tanks that will accuse you of not doing your job while expecting you to carry their lazy ass who's not doing their own job of holding Emnity away from party.
They only hit ONE enemy of each enemy group, amass 30+ foes, don't mitigate, etc, etc...

Previously, in 2017, it was frustrating because there were other cumbersome mechanics that majorly plagued the healer gameplay, exacerbated by those tanks.
Currently, it's 100% the tank's fault, because they dictate the pace, even with the current simplified healer gameplay.

Now visualize doing that back when you didn't have MP to upkeep healing that tank unless you were at top of your Free Cure 1 game, and abusing ethers like a cocaine addict, and still being expected to DPSing more than both DPS together.
Also not a chance of casting buffs pre-fight, or regen some MP.

Started playing Dragon Quest X Online a few days ago! ^^
The combat is a bit unusual for me, a mix of turn-based JRPG but also active time battle system, with tactical positioning, enemy pushing/bodying, real time AoE evasion... It's actually fun despite not being super fast.

It did help me when I made my first khajiit OC in ESO, Dro'Fargo.
Initially I was going for the prefix "Do", for a warrior-themed named, since Dro'Fargo was my first character built to be a Tank. But turned out "Dro" sounded more pleasing, and Fargo did turn out as a calm, wise and elderly type.
