Sounds to me you might be into J-Horror while a lot of em are paranormal they usually play it off like just a force of nature.
I not 100% but I'm also sure i watched some where it is just something natural happening but it causes distress for the MCs

of course, though im curious what are your feelings on something like Nightmare on elm street and scream where the whole point is trying to be something more then just some killer killing teens?
I do understand what you mean but I find a simple joy in those kinda movies also damn near all of the long running ones just goes crazy with the plot at some point.
but over all the best killer horror movie IMO is still the OG halloween and it is because it is so simple that it works.

Anything with the muscular Zeraora im a sucker for this kinda thing.
Also the longer fur in the head area IMO is better then the official design it just looks so damn cool.
