The other day I made a post about disappearing from the social internet. I think with the possible exception of BlueSky, that's the direction I'm going this year.
I deleted social media from my phone and unsubscribed to 90% of the pointless trash I was watching on YouTube.

I think for next year, I'll still try to aim for 25, but I'm not going to make myself read every day. It started to feel like another chore that I need to "get done" before bed. I still enjoy reading, but I think I'll shift this to becoming something I mainly do on the weekends.
My 2024 Year In Books.
I set a goal of 30 after reading 35 last year. Honestly it was a struggle to even hit 25, but I still read every single day. That makes two years in a row of daily reading.

When it comes to social media, I have two moods.
1.) I need to post more, be more active, make real connections, build a following, and create helpful content that everyone can use.
2.) Delete all my accounts, vanish from the internet, and never use this trash again.
There is no in between.
Bought an Amazon Echo today. Got home, set it up. It shows ads that can't be turned off. Less than an hour later and it's in the box to be returned. No freaking thank you.

Honestly that would probably be no problem for next time. Especially since there's a cloud track, and that's where a lot of my work will be moving to in the coming year.
I'll try! Running low on PTO this year and I already have like a week off around the holidays, so I couldn't really justify taking much more time off, even if it is for a tech conference.

It's not official official yet, but I passed my Google Cloud Certification exam today. Needed this for work by the end of the year, and it's a big relief to finally have it checked off my list.

Oh wow that was a nostalgia hit. My grandmother had one of these back in the late 80s. She had gone completely blind and had trouble waking, so used this to talk to family across the house when she needed something.

Today was my first martial arts class in almost a month. I definitely needed a break, but I'm so glad to have made it back today. Feeling both physically and mentally fantastic.
