Aspiring ethnomusicologist, journalist, audio editor and engineer I once lived on a research boat for 3 months collecting basalt from the seafloor, I made a radio doc about the 10 year anniversary of PrEP's FDA approval, and I know too much about Pokémon

The western flagpole, with about 7-9 feet of wood left above ground. The base has been cleared away, and there's brick rubble around it. Orange cones block it off.
They're taking down Columbia's flagpoles! I talked to a worker -- new metal ones will go in their place, but first they need to dig down another ~30 feet. The worker said they're from Oregon, probably cedar, and from 1892 and 1901 (this one). The original plaques have been saved.

I'll be at MAGFest 2025 celebrating videogame music, and I will be happily playing cello in the Community Orchestra. So if you see a tall bearded guy with a reddish case featuring Pokémon stickers, say hi! (I may ask you what videogame tunes make you nostalgic, too!)
