Evening views of Bamburgh beach and castle from across the rocks. Partially cloudy sky gave some muted sunlight colours in the clouds
Evening stroll and dog walk at Bamburgh Beach, Northumberland. Started off relatively cloudy but the clouds started to break up a little aand give some lovely soft light in the sky across the beach and rocks. A worthwhile wander.

And thanks to Wong, Albanese and Marles, Australia's sovereignty, security and foreign & defence policy is also now "a matter for the United States". #auspol

Nice way to finish the day. An unexpected break in the clouds and Orion in a good position for me tonight. Been wanting to catch a decent image of the 'Running Man' nebula aka NGC1973 for a while. ππ

Notice how the Department of Homeland Security has changed the look of its concentration camps? It's so drones can't fly overhead to take videos of emaciated inmates covered in their own filth.

Linocut portrait of Queen Seondeok of Silla with elaborate medieval Korean crown and heavy beaded necklace in gold, red and blue robes, at night with starry black sky with white and grey moon and the grey Tower of Cheomseogdae behind her.
Queen Seondeok of Silla (c. 595 ~ 610 - 647), 27th ruler of one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, from 632-647, who brought about a renaissance in culture and science and built the Cheomseongdae moon and star-gazing observatory. π§ͺπ‘π©π»βπ¬π #histsci This is the anniversary of her death.

A high-resolution image of the planetary nebula IC 5148. The nebula is a vibrant, glowing sphere, predominantly electric blue and pale turquoise. At its center is a tiny, bright white light, which is the progenitor star. The nebula is surrounded by a wispy outer halo of darker blue gas, and the entire nebula lies in front of a background of distant stars and galaxies.
This weekβs image is of IC 5148! Gemini Southβs GMOS was used to observe this planetary nebula, whose cloud of gas is expanding outwards at a speed of 180,000 km/hr! Check out the 𧡠for more papers involving GMOS data!

A reddish nebula is centered on a black background dotted with stars. The nebula has several strong dust clumps that block out the background light and give the appearance of a person wearing a pointy hat with arms raised and hands outstretched.
I've been playing around with some new processing tools. Here's NGC 7380, the Wizard Nebula. First discovered by Caroline Herschel and located in the direction of Cepheus, the nebula surrounds an open cluster of young stars.

NGC 1977, the Running Man Nebula, is a luminous patch of Orion where starlight and dust put on a color duel. In this LRGB rendition, the nebulaβs cool blue glow is a classic reflection nebula signature: fine interstellar dust is scattering the intense light from nearby young stars (most notably 42 Orionis) like a cosmic fog caught in headlights. Woven through that blue are crimson H-alpha emission arcs, where energetic ultraviolet radiation is ionizing hydrogen in the surrounding H II region, causing it to fluoresce in deep red. Dark, smoky lanes and curled wisps carve through the glow, revealing denser dust clouds that both sculpt the nebula and hide parts of it from view. The starfield is sharp and lively, with bright, white-blue stars anchoring the scene while fainter pinpoints recede into the Orion backdrop, giving the whole frame that βwindow into a busy stellar nurseryβ feeling.
