A friendly reminder to people in power: saying you take responsibility for something isnβt the same as taking responsibility for it.
Oh Mandy
You came and you took without giving
And they led you away

Breaking: on two counts, the High Court has ruled that the Labour government's proscription of the campaign group Palestine Action was unlawful β a win for its co-founder Huda Ammori, who sought a judicial review of the ban
The state must now back down and end the ban on Palestine Action. The continuing proscription is an abuse of freedom of expression and assembly
Leaving the court now, the government lawyers look... pissed
Itβs a good job MPs are two sword lengths apart in the Commons. I thought Starmer was about to butcher Ed Davey in PMQs. I donβt think Iβve seen him so angry.
I can believe that Keir Starmer isnβt resigning. Iβm not sure I believe that heβs concentrating on the job in hand.
It only seems to get worse.
Not just the media. I think it was the Labour Party hierarchy itself. And thatβs what led to Starmer bringing him back to the fold - the purge of the left is absolutely linked to Mandelson being trusted by McSweeny and Starmer.
Itβs brilliant. It makes some surprising twists. Great fun.
I listened to Steve Reed on Radio 4 this morning defending the indefensible and then Starmer himself waxing his untenables all over the shop.
The only thing he should have been saying this morning is βI quitβ.
Iβm afraid it might be. There isnβt any obvious successor or they might have tried getting rid of him already. But Streeting seems the most likely.
I canβt see Starmer being PM now. He canβt carry on.
I didnβt know he was a jazz guitarist. Itβs funny because the seminar teacher we had following his lectures was a jazz pianist. What the hell was going on at London Guildhall Uni in the mid 90s?
He basically asked us if heβd gone too far but actually we thought he was right. But I mainly remember the brilliant lectures and itβs given me a life long interest in political philosophy.
He took me and a fellow student for a drink once following a public disagreement with another academic. He wanted reassurance. He was warning about the rise of the far right in Eastern Europe and the other academic told him to βget realβ. Glasman responded with βyou get realβ and it all got silly.
This is incredibly interesting. I was taught political philosophy by Glasman in the mid 90s. It was London Guildhall Uni rather than City Poly by then. His life since then is astonishing and he certainly seems to have taken a few turns.

Much though I have enjoyed all of my many trips to the USA over forty or so years I have realised that I cannot go there any more until there is what we might call βregime changeβ Like Iran they are killing their own citizens. Tragic
I got a late 50th birthday present - a crocheted Weeping Angel. #DoctorWho
Lincoln City were superb tonight. A fantastic performance.
Whoever is responsible should be ashamed. Croydon deserves to be a great town. Iβm sure it can be again.
Iβve spent the last few days in Croydon. I have a lot of affection for the town I lived in for 13 years. Iβve been taken aback by how much itβs changed. Iβm quite sad about the neglect itβs received. I left as gentrification was being mooted. Iβm not sure itβs worked out.

Boris Johnsonβs purge of the One Nation Tories in 2019 continues to haunt the party.
The subsequent swing to a more hardline position and Reform-like policies looks inauthentic and unapologetic.
They lack the sort of talent to change this I feel.
I was just writing about how the bad guys in Doctor Who often have buffoonish master plans only to read in the actual news that Trump intends to raise punitive taxes on Americans until Europe gives up & gives him Greenland
