Just got my first Hanwha arctic-ready military submarine ad on YouTube, and it’s nice having my ego stroked like I’m going to be the one making that decision. I still have screenshots of the times I’ve been served ads for multi-million dollar pieces of mining equipment. It feels good

Yeah, you could call me a sort of unwellness guru

Playing My Summer Car, living my teenage dream of building a project car. After saving for weeks to buy my first power mods, immediately wrap the car around a telephone pole on the first test drive. Probably for the best I never pursued this IRL

With some Canadians ready to embrace Chinese-made autos, experts note there are security risks | CBC News Weeks after Ottawa announced that it would allow a limited number of Chinese-made vehicles into the Canadian market, some have warned that the move puts data privacy at risk. But that might not be a s...

There are a few good points here, but the β€œchina is spying on you” criticism always bothers me because no one ever articulates why a major government on the other side of the world would care about where a random sampling of Canadians are driving at any given time.

Vacuum pump power cord for $830. Is this some kind of tariff thing, or does this company just not want to sell any products?

One time some guy pulled a coin out of my ear and I have no idea how it got there. It was so crazy

It kills me that iOS has the Oxford English Dictionary built into it, but there’s no app to quickly look words up. Instead it has the clunkiest interface imagineable. You need to type a word out anywhere, highlight it, then scroll to β€œlook-up”. What are we doing here.

Sauron was a totally chill guy before all those concussions he got as a wide receiver in college.

Canadian comedy legend Catherine O'Hara, who lit up SCTV and stole scenes on Schitt's Creek, dead at 71 | CBC News Catherine O'Hara, the gifted Canadian comic actor who gave life to a flurry of iconic movie and television characters in everything from SCTV sketches and big-screen successes like Beetlejuice and Hom...

Really sad to hear about Catherine O’Hara’s passing today.
I thought this was a nice obituary from CBC. www.cbc.ca/news/enterta...

The existence of oysters means that it’s possible to have all your needs met by evolving into a small rock near a beach. If only we could all be so lucky

I wish I could go on multi-hour bike rides every day. Kind of BS that the human body needs β€œrest days” and atrophies if you can’t work out for a few weeks. Bad UX design.

I had the same realization on moving to Toronto after living here my whole life. The biggest difference to me was the elevation. In Vancouver you regularly get expansive views where you can see other parts of the city, or mountains 100’s of km away. If it’s flat you just see the block you’re on.

Picked up the Kong-Pirelli collab drop from petsmart today. The Kong is made of the same C1 soft rubber compound used in F1 tires and endorsed by Lance and Lawrence Stroll! My dog loves it with some peanut butter and Milk Bone Beef Heart Elite Treats stuffed in there

If I touch my new earbuds in the wrong way while I’m on a call, it starts the music program on my computer and begins playing the first playlist, blasting Nine Inch Nails over the call. I don’t *think* people on the call can hear it.

We live in an amazing time with the technology available to us

My dog used to suck. Just in general. But then I switched him to Iams Performance Edition, the official dog food of Formula 1, and he’s an entirely new dog.

Honestly, it was a major disappointment for me when I learned Scott Adams was such a crank. It took me a while to internalize it.

He’s reanimated by some demons, Alice kills him again by stabbing him with a pen, and then it just ends and it’s off to the next plot.
Dilbert would pull a Garfield-wakes-up-in-the-distant-future style non sequitur more often than any other strip.

13.01.2026 19:24 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

That said, at its best the strip was very funny. Its capacity for absurd, off-the-wall humour was unmatched. For example, in one series, a coworker grows a beard from his forehead, which gets him promoted to manager. This gets Alice homicidally angry and she rolls his office chair down the stairs…

I like this take. I also really enjoyed Dilbert as a kid and teenager, and this was definitely part of it. Also, Dilbert seemed to give a window into the adult world with the insider knowledge that it was all arbitrary and pointless. An attractive message for a young person eager to seem wise.

I’m usually against features like this, but the new AutoMix on Apple Music is mostly invisible, but will sometimes nail a seamless fade from dream pop to metal or something that you wouldn’t believe was possible unless you heard it

I’m not quite as high, my max is 205, but resting is ~60. I was trying to figure out why this is, and there isn’t a ton of info on what causes high max and normal resting. My current theory is it’s related to the volume of your heart. Smaller means more bpm to pump the same volume. But really, πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

How convenient that the guy studying vectors had the name Poynting. Now we have the Poynting vector, which has a self-explanatory name purely by chance.

Timeline of the far future - Wikipedia

While I don’t recommend this as material to wind down with as you’re going to bed (leaves you with a pit in your stomach thinking about how all life on earth will probably be gone in the next billion years), I can recommend it as a fascinating read

I’ve got two mostly unused wrist + thumb splints from when I got hit by a car this summer, and it’s kind of surprising how there’s no charity or government program to give old braces to in Toronto. They’re🫰and if they weren’t covered by insurance I’d have been looking for a cheaper way to get them.

Early stage Duolingo loves to drill you about how the French word for β€œchocolate” is β€œchocolat” for five minutes, then tell you that one of your weak words is β€œoui” somehow.

Just got to keep going, I guess
