That distance usually forces players to either counter it (common in hero shooters) or match it (most common option) which slows the game for everyone and isn't even always an option in every game. Just best to have a hard range where beyond it the damage absolutely tanks.

It's still often over-centralizing in CS which is the only one of those titles I have real knowledge of.

All of these are ways to attempt to work around it when the primary issue has always been that they fight from a range that is often borderline non-interaction distance.

My teacher went with the "absolute power corrupts absolutely" angle, which is good. But, if they outsource that teaching to the movie the "communism bad" message is probably pretty likely.

It was required reading for 7th grade in AZ, which isn't a highly-ranked state education-wise. Public schools aren't great but it is a very common assigned reading choice.

Honestly it all comes down to Andy Serkis, which is not a sentence I was prepared to say.

Because like, you know for a fact students assigned the book will just watch that shit instead, assuming that teachers in red states even bother to assign the book over just watching the film.
