This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics. It’s the root of all evil in Washington.

2008 spend of 16M is .62 % of current 2.6B spend.

less than 1% in less than 20 years. clearly citizens united is a flawed ruling that must be reversed.

Students have more power than politicians want to admit.

Your rent is here. Your tuition is here. Your vote should be here too.

Early voting in Chicago has already started. Don’t sit this one out.

for some reason, this post, about topics i’m unfamiliar with (don’t know the subject, or the author and work being discussed) is the best thing i have read in a long time.

jfc. love how making up a good enough new word for something will let you just do itβ€”derivatives, parallel construction, robo-signing. fuck it.

The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell, 1971, second printing. A large paperback book with a black cover, a white title and the author's name in red. Apparently, these days it's quite safe to allow readers to see it as most of the recipes for explosives etc are out of date. It does also have a list of drugs, which is how I know that if you eat enough banana skins, you'll hallucinate, but I'd think that was pretty likely anyway.

On my desk today: a piece of 1970s counter culture.

better than the cynical cross-party primary voteβ€”vote for the worst repub because they’ll be easier to beat but then lose to them because . . . of your own garbage, centrist, blue-dog, third-way-ass candidates.

surprised you don’t have closed primaries down there.
