For anyone who could use a dose of cozy, low-key, happy storytelling: all four episodes of Pokemon Concierge are free on Youtube until the 9th. Plotlines include "Oh no! The magikarp that is bad at swimming has lost its floatie!"
I love it SO MUCH.

In case you missed it at Christmas time! It's a YA sci-fi retelling of Bluebeard, one of the fairy tales least likely to ever get a Disney adaptation.
The text reads "Black Friday Sale, $0.99 each". There's a pictures of three book, The Redwood Palace, The Coral Palace, and The Obsidian Palace, by M.K. Hutchins.
Every book in the Kitchen & Kingdoms trilogy is on sale! www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRDK1BC...
A stack of orange and green books with cut-out black paper eyes, mouth, and nose forming a jack-o-lantern.
Happy Halloween!

The interplay between the text and the pictures here was so much fun. It was like "Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchinson mashed up with Hiyao Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky." Loved it.

Look what just came out in paperback!
Just finished reading ONE QUARTER VILLIAN by Cori Cooper and it was good times, recommend, fairy tale trope fun: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...

WIP setting. I love getting out into nature.
I absolutely love that instead of copy-paste-put-in-Zelda-as-protag, this is a game where they thought about Zelda as the Triforce of Wisdom and gave her her own very cool engineering kind of gameplay.
Also really happy to see more in this art style!

Five LEGO minifigures standing on a 1" square battle map.
Wrapped up a three-year-long campaign with these guys! There was a surprising amount of salt farming and turning people into hedgehogs. I love writing stories to share, but there's also something special about a TTRPG—a collaborative storytelling process meant just for the people in the room.
No idea if I'll ever build this, but the heart-shaped tile printed as a Korok mask is so freakin' precious: www.lego.com/en-us/produc...
Pokemon: Horizons is the only kids show I know with modern characters who casually, happily distance/virtual/homeschool.
I came for the cute Sprigatito and they're dropping "Oh I've always done distance because I think better in the woods" and NO ONE tells Roy he has to sit in a chair to learn. 💚
The lil snails won! Will become a LEGO GWP! ideas.lego.com/challenges/9...
Thank you for this story; it was so beautiful and the gentleness of "we are relearning how to teach" gave me all sorts of feels as I'm off to tutor dyslexic children who process writing differently.
This is both amazing worldbuilding and so lyrical and poetic, go read:

Those are all amazing! I'd seen edges painted with pictures, but not the fore edge painting—thank you for sharing the link.
The Kitchens and Kingdoms trilogy of books with teal sprayed edges.
Finally jumped on the sprayed edges hype and had a little fun. It reminded me of painting trim, but without a nail gun and caulk. #sprayededgesbooks
Me in August: Why am I stressed about reading books printed this year? Books don't have an expiration date! I can read things from last year; it's okay.
Me at Nebula Nominations Time: AAAAHHH. Why is most of the kidlit I read from last year? Why?!?
And so the cycle continues...
Picture of me sitting at a table at the book signing with stacks of books.
LTUE was fantastic. Friends introduced me to new friends, I met amazing people on the panels I was on, and I went to fantastic classes. I also only remembered to take one picture, so, uh, goals for next year.
Excited for LTUE42!
Photo of Kaela Rivera's book "Cece Rios and the Desert of Souls" next to some succulents.
I always try to read something by the #LTUE Guest of Honor if I haven't already and wow—this is Middle Grade fantasy at its finest. I devoured it, my kid devoured it, we had a long conversation about the book in Pokemon terms. Looking forward to hearing Kaela Rivera talk next week at #LTUE42!
I am really looking forward to this!
