Young people, ready for the modern world...
Oracy needs to be the act of being more human.
Our young people need to learn to listen deeply, speak authentically, collaborate inclusively, explore as a collective and confidently advocate with agency for themselves and others...
Mental health for our young people is at its lowest ever. Precious minds are consumed by a life they 'could and should' have on social media and are rapidly losing their ability to think critically and consciously act in line with their own values.
Al is evolving in plain sight and though it brings a wealth of potential it is also going to radically change society as we know it.
For the first time ever we have a force more intelligent than us in the world.
50 years later and much as amplifying the importance of #Oracy is still vital, the landscape and purpose of this work has changed dramatically...
We are in unprecedented times...
In 1965 Andrew Wilkinson defined #Oracy as 'the ability to use the oral skills of speaking and listening'. He wanted to bring this essential area in line with Numeracy and Literacy.
