White people don’t say criminals anymore they say low trust behavior

I'm going to delete my previous take and say instead that I find it unbecoming to proudly display a total lack of interest in the art form you're trying to pursue

But, then again, it would also be entirely reasonable to expect that the median voter would simply not care.

TL;DR, guess we'll see!

The attitude I've observed the most outside my bubble (and inside but in a markedly different way) is disillusionment with electoral politics. Could be the case that Platner's pro-working class rhetoric and branding draws them in, and then the Reddit stuff drives them back away

Vibe based belief, but: switching votes? I don't see it as particularly likely for a lot of folks. Non-voting, though? Very feasible, if not likely, especially for younger voters like myself. A lot of us were demotivated in 2024 by Harris's campaign - no reason Platner's tattoos couldn't do the same

No condemnation of any neoliberal capitalist magazine I could offer would be stronger than the knowledge they thought Pamela Paul had thoughts on any subject worth listening to

And even then I'd still have to say that most of those are the dog themselves (M.I.C, crypto, war hawks) since they all have the same class interests, and the ones that aren't have a rather strong tendency of aligning themselves with those class interests

I think people love the angle that Israel is controlling the U.S. from the shadows because it lets them pretend all the fucked up things the U.S. does as a function of being the U.S. is actually because of the Fucked Up Evil Country

The Brackish Pool: Towards a Critical Practice of Reading Weird Fiction The ideal reader of the weird has to embrace a kind of wilful suspension of foreknowledge or generic expectation.

(I promise I was unswayed by his very, very gratifying and insightful read of β€œThe Brackish Pool”)

The Revolution Will Not Be in the Bookstore Mo Drammeh The title of that poem gets repeated with such profound frequency to the point that it has become something of a cliche. Not even in the sense...

Wrote about how I think the novel as a form fits in to the current political landscape. Would love if y'all gave it a read.

On one hand, I don't understand why I'm supposed to care about Timothee Chalamet's opinion on ballet; on the other, if this gets y'all engaged in defending the validity of the arts, I'm willing to entertain it

clinton's plan to beat trump was to elevate him above the rest of the republican field and then coast to an easy victory. i don't think she was right about that

Quite frankly I'm not even sure people are actually aware of the tattoo thing, or if they are it faded from conversation so quickly as to no longer appear relevant to them.

Mother put her hands over her face and completely disappeared. This degenerate nihilistic storytelling is killing our culture. Oh! But wait! Mother has returned! This redemptive hopeful storytelling is leading us to utopia!

the premise of that transphobic in defense of effeminate gay boys article is so obviously stupid and self defeating that i cant stop laughing. "imagine if people told gay boys they were women" what. if drinking water made you have to pee

I'm not meaning to presume you aren't aware of how fandom works, I'm making a joke saying that if you allow yourself to experience enough ridiculous claims you stop caring. Sorry if it appeared that way.

It gets better eventually. I've been exposed to so much ragebait that it no longer affects me. The Hemingway comparison gimmick passes over and through me

Lenin lays out that super-monopoly is the inevitable end result of capitalism, and this acquisition by Paramount of Warner Brothers brings us to a media landscape almost totally dominated by two major players, one rabidly fascist, the other a corporation disinterested in art.

I used to be subscribed to Jamelle Bouie's YouTube and I would always watch his videos fully looking forward to the moment he made a novel observation, or a particularly thought-provoking argument, or said anything interesting, and so I'd wait, and wait, and wait, and then the video would end
