I popped back in here after many months β¦ just to be reminded of why I left. It's been real, folks! Idk how anyone can stand social media anymore at all.

Ummm β¦ isn't that roughly when a huge influx of people started joining Bluesky? Don't technically literate people know this? Oops!
Wait, I thought that was the Gaza policy?
I'm not defending that, FYI, just always find it interesting how there is a finite list of about 10 different very specific reasons, played on rotation, that people insist was "the reason."
Like mine? You mean random, boring white women? Go pick on somebody worth your time. π
I appreciate this fantasy, but despite everything I'm glad no presidents prior to the current one were hell bent on breaking our entire democratic system.
Thank you for pointing that out, actually. I didn't realize. I hope the snark felt therapeutic or superior or whatever.
Seriously, I am just analyzing here. A lot of people are enjoying reading more into what I'm saying, but that's the Internet for you.
Biden didn't have that power. But it would've been nice if he'd appointed someone a lot better than Merrick Garland.
I think we can all agree that the reasons were complex. I have a tendency to focus on impacts from foreign sources because I think that's not discussed enough, but I'm not trying to cover over our domestic culpability.
I'm thinking any Dem would've probably been doomed. But speculation's a helluva drug. π€·π»ββοΈ
Let's remember that she didn't set the policy, Biden did. And of course she would've lost a certain set of voters by standing against Israel. I'm not suggesting she shouldn't have done so.
I don't think it's irrational to suggest that any of the central players, or their financial backers, wanted to destabilize the US. I am not defending Biden's position.
I'm not defending their support. I think there was a significant shift in the polls over time, as the situation became so much worse. October 7th was horrific, so for a while the opinions were far more split.
Please be safe!! ππ»
The tragic part is that they also would've lost a whole different set of voters had they done the opposite. It's almost like (part of) the impetus behind the whole thing was to divide the Dems and help hand Trump a win.
I'm overseas right now and have had similar experiences, including the questions and the plane going over being only 50-60% full.
Thank you for writing this!
Rick, there are too many dudes in Silicon Valley who have simply never had genuine, in-person human relationships, and it shows. Yarvin is the Head Boy of that disordered antisocial sect.
Russia is once again preparing to escalate the forced removal and deportation of Ukrainian children during upcoming summer months. Russian official stated that about 53K children from occupied Ukraine will βspend their summer holidaysβ in childrenβs camps throughout occupied Ukraine and Russia
I feel like I'm burning a lot of calories lately just by wrenching myself from the clutches of cynicism.
Thank you for this.
This is THE question.
Yep. The fact that Viktor Orban has been underwriting the Heritage Foundation is the only proof anyone needs of this.
Rachel, I am so glad that YOU are talking about this! Some people think I'm crazy for saying it, even though it seems blatantly obvious. Thank you!
Yikes
What happened?
You know some of that is gonna happen.
I hear ICE is deputizing a bunch of newbies, probably vetted mostly for MAGA loyalty and not much else. Won't be surprised if some of them straight up commit armed robberies by power of their uniforms. That's typical in fascist regimes.
That definitely adds up.
I feel foolish for ever believing they'd do this.
