Mixed Mating Signals by Sherale Summary: Keith was overjoyed when Lance decided to come help the Blades out with a mission and in turn chose to stay for longer, working along him and others to continue bringing peace to the galaxies. He was also overjoyed with the chance to test the waters and see if maybe, just maybe, he and Lance could become more than just friends. Summary: Keith has been freshly crowned king after his adoptive father’s sudden and surprising death. Along with the title, power, and kingdom, he has also inherited the prior king’s concubines. He honestly wants nothing to do with the said concubines. In full transparent truth, Keith is s part disgusted that the old man picked younger and younger mistresses throughout the years, but also, he just felt disgusted with the idea of it all. He believed that hoarding the already rare and dwindling omegas into a locked harem was inhumane. That it was abusive. All around predatory. Disgusting behavior that he would not continue during his reign. Which meant shoving the remaining concubines back to their homes. Except one concubine in particular did not want to leave. That was how Keith became stuck with Lance. And perhaps Keith allowed Lance to stay in some turned about way to atone for the late emperor’s sins. For it was the fault of his predecessor that Lance no longer had a place to call home. What Keith didn’t expect was to almost be assassinated by the said omega, or to even fall in love with him.

And when food was done, Lance stood, with the help of his chair and the table, and carried his plate to the sink. “I keep telling you I’ll take care of it if you leave it on the table.” Keith chastised, hurriedly shoving the last of his dinner in his mouth to go help Lance. Or perhaps stop Lance before he worked on yet another task. Around a mouthful of food, Keith continued. “You’re moving too much. You should be relaxing.” Lance waved a hand, heart a flutter. “I’m not so pregnant I can’t at least put my plate away.” The brunet’s heart leaped when he heard Keith getting up from the table. He wondered if Keith would pinch his bottom this time as punishment, or perhaps nip his ear. Maybe Keith would pick him up, carry him to the couch, and tell him to stay or else. The possibility of ‘or else’ was a temptation for Lance. Arms wrapped around Lance’s body, Keith’s hands going to his stomach as lips caressed the shell of Lance’s right ear. “Let me take care of you, babe…” Shudders broke goosebumps over Lance’s skin. He swallowed, lips curling up, heart hammering.

For a month now, they had been dating. It was not as if Lance wasn’t already aware of how quickly and deeply Keith had settled into his life. At the start, Lance tried to keep up boundaries or barriers, to protect his heart if Keith inevitably left. But those barriers came smashing down less than a week into them officially dating. After dinner, Keith drove Lance back to his place, the two saying goodnight by Lance’s door. Then words became a kiss, and a kiss became more. Lance could barely get out of his clothes fast enough before they were entangled in a night of passion that caused Keith to wake up late for work the next morning.
