I should watch it again.

I remember the connections he was drawing between the deaf main character & the fish man didn’t sit well with me.

I could see what GDT was going for, but it’s a tough needle to thread, and it felt really alienating.

It’s not fresh in my head, so I may be misremembering.

It’s worth a watch. Full disclosure, outside of Hellboy, GDT doesn’t really work for me. Beautiful to look at and wonderful production design.

Changes to the monster’s nature and an added character (that went nowhere) kinda killed it for me.

Also… I make a point of telling folks that dinosaurs aren’t mammals and they didn’t have hair.

Get this, then they point to Archaeopteryx or better yet a bald eagle and declare “that must be a mammal since it has hair”.

I feel like a lot of people are like “chickens are descendants of T. rex”.

Then I’m like bro, T. rex is a dead end. Dead and gone. But tiny theropods survived, persisted, and diversified.

The general public doesn’t seem to connect that ALL birds are dinosaurs. Not just chickens.
