Just had my first annual performance review in my current role. Apparently, I'm dependable, adaptable, and good at taking initiative. My only "area for improvement" is that I "sometimes circumvent standard procedures." Um, yeah, that's called producing results. But nobody's perfect, I suppose
I got a necessary reminder in therapy today. It's okay to be scared and my fears are real (Immigration worries? Racism? Queerphobia? The world's a mess, right?) But they don't get to control me. It's my job to cope with them, to find my strength, and to keep living, and I needed to hear that again
