Counts as an immediate cap hit
Counts as an immediate cap hit
The latter issue could be addressed by having regular-season seeding count for more (e.g. byes).
Teams in the NFL, MLB, and NHL all go through rebuilding years where they suck, aiming to be competitive in the future. Itβs not at all unique to the NBA. Itβs rational and normal
If they had given him a $30 million signing bonus instead of guaranteeing $30 million salary, it would HUGELY BENEFIT THE RAVENS. To the tune of $30 million that counts against the RAIDERSβ cap instead of their own.
Itβs EXACTLY what I said originally. Maybe try literacy.
Again, Iβm talking about the TOTAL cap impact of the contract, not a single year.
What the fuck are you blathering about?
Which is why there is a cap benefit in general to trading for players on big contracts that got big signing bonuses
Crosby got a bunch of guaranteed salary rather a big signing bonus, so Baltimore doesnβt get that benefit
Not sure why this is such a difficult concept
Missing the point. They can restructure like anyone can, but an advantage of most trades that donβt involve an immediate new contract is that the total cap impact (not just for one year) is lower because the signing bonus counts for the other team. Crosbyβs deal is weird and doesnβt really do that
Glad to see none of the institutions where I trained/work on this list. The ones that are are appalling, though
Any system that favors the worst teams is going to encourage tanking, no matter how small you make the marginal advantage
Iβm honestly not sure I see it as a problem. Rebuilding teams are a thing in all of the big pro team sports. Doesnβt seem like an existential crisis
Iβm kind of shocked that it was two
1sts with the first one being a top 15 pick. AND they donβt even get the typical trade benefit with guys that have multiple years left on their deal of having a lower-than-normal cap hit because the signing bonus doesnβt count
I find a lot of the βwell he obviously must have knownβ stuff dubious.

Every time Dems have a bad cycle, thereβs a whole cottage industry about how they need to move to the right, when really they just need to be Not Republicans whenever Republicans inevitably shit the bed
Long and storied movie career. He was in Highlander: Endgame back in 2000 when he was still in a tag team with Christian
Fun fact: Adam Baldwin is the most famous person Iβve gotten in a Twitter fight with.
Turns out that the reason he was so good at playing Jayne, a stupid paranoid asshole, is that he is in fact a stupid paranoid asshole in real life (and hardcore antivax).
He is the second stupidest person in the Senate, behind only Tuberville
Iβm just going to say that trading AJ Brown would be very stupid unless you can get a comparable player back. Thereβs no reason to trade him for the sake of trading him
βTrump fires Kristi Noemβ¦β
Oh, thatβs good. Sheβs awful.
ββ¦and replaces her with the second stupidest person in the Senateβ

When someone says βScientists do not want you to knowβ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They canβt shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

But the justice overseeing the circuit would also be random, no? What stops people from just continually rolling the dice until they get a favorable random panel to grant cert?
Also, a constitutional questions: could it be undone by a future Congress without running afoul of Article 3βs βshall hold their Offices during good Behaviourβ? If everybody is a SCOTUS Justice now, it seems there isnβt any mechanism to go back to a smaller court without unconstitutional demotions
Interesting idea. If itβs random, what prevents some group from repeatedly bringing similar cases until they randomly get a panel with the right number of Rao/Kacsmaryk/Bove/Alito/Thomas types they want?
A very foreseeable problem and an excellent reason the tariffs should have been enjoined long before this
This man knows what heβs talking about, @bruceshark.bsky.social
This is actually potentially relevant when both have hotly contested Senate primaries
Iβm unfamiliar with this βclosing tabsβ concept π§
Is this just pure posturing, then?

To be clear, the idea that this is a replacement for GLP-1 drugs is silly, and you donβt necessarily need an AI to help you stay on track (as opposed to, say, a non-AI app), but I have a hard time criticizing something for βjustβ helping people stick to lifestyle changes.
Paywalled, but Iβm assuming the plausible mechanism is βhelping people stick with diet and exercise (mainly diet).β Thatβs not nothing! A nontrivial reason diet and exercise are more beneficial in trials than βhey, you should lose weightβ is in real life is that people check in on participants
