1 in 3 EU Immigrants Are Thinking of Leaving Germany
Internationals are unsure about Germany. Read our weekly newsletter for more about living and working in Germany as an international.
This week's Berlin Life newsletter has all of it β the politics, who's hiring, β¬1.2B in fresh German startup funding, and someone built a website where you can bet on how late your Deutsche Bahn train will be. π

This week in Germany:
β CDU wants stricter citizenship rules
β AfD demanding "fluid German" to qualify
β Part-time employment just hit a record 39.9% of the workforce
β 25% of German households have zero savings
The vibe is not great. But the job market? Still moving.

1 in 3 EU immigrants are thinking of leaving Germany. Only 31% of our community said they'd stay without hesitation if they could work anywhere.
Germany's workforce runs on foreign workers. Yet the political message being sent to those same people is getting louder: you're not quite welcome here.

I have nice neighbors. I was struggling to replace a toilet seat and posted about it in our buildingβs WhatsApp group. One of them came to help and wouldnβt even let me pay him. A little bit heartened by community today. β€οΈ

Indeed! I wonder what happens in the lives of people like Andrew to make them so fucking terrible and weird. Like why would you think it's a flex to go to Dubai? I hope they arrest him on arrival. Disappearing him to jail and putting him in gen pop also works.

Agree! Any reports from coming the plant over he years has indicated a very toxic work environment. They lead by fear and try to stifle any legit complaints. I know someone who was in the mix for a job there and withdrew from the recruiting process due to so many red flags.

Elon threatened employees and said the union would destroy the plantβs future. I think the fear mongering worked.

Oh nice! That's a great service to have. I'm going to be 4-6 weeks without my passport and permanent residency sticker. Just hoping I am not going to need my ID for some reason.

Damn! I asked this same question on Threads and learned it's the most expensive passport in the world. It's for 5 years or 10?

In the process of renewing my Canadian passport. I just shelled out $260 Cdn (about β¬165) for a new 10 year passport. π
How much do you pay for passports for your country?
