I can blame the Iranian government when they kill people (like the demonstrators last month and victims of their drones in Ukraine) and Trump and Netanyahu when they kill people (like right now in Iran). Nothing Iran has done justifies murdering Iranians with no plausible endgame.
What you wrote does not change the fact that Trump and Netanyahu are to blame for the death and destruction that is happening right now. 40 school girls are dead because of them. This does nothing to stop Iran from funding militias, arming proxies, etc. It just causes more death, with no clear goal.
Trump simply does not give a shit about U.S. Navy personnel on a base in Bahrain. Seriously, if they all died he would lose no sleep over it. But if he is told that gas prices are spiking and it is affecting his poll numbers? That is much more likely to prompt a change.
If the Iranian government wants this war to stop as soon as possible their best move is to mine the straits of Hormuz, where a huge % of the world's oil needs to traverse to reach the market. The spike in oil prices will hurt Trump much more than any missiles lobbed at American bases will.
I think it rules him out. I also think he never had a serious chance before starting this new war.
