Why is sentential negation effective in Czech but fails in English? We think it's because Czech syntax has negation high up in NegP. English on the other hand, has negation low in the structure. Within feature percolation accounts, this difference in embedding allows us to explain this pattern. 2/2
Illusion alert 🚨 We looked at NPI and NCI illusions in 🇨🇿. We aimed to distinguish between them by using negation. Vím, že platím jim, je to průběžný systém, ale přesto je zde nějaká společenská smlouva, že když člověk celý život do systému platí, tak má pak ve stáří nárok, aby jej stát též zajistil. Bohužel kvůli demografickému vývoji této země to nebude udržitelné.
Já (čerstvě 30) už vůbec nepočítám s tím, že budu mít cokoliv od státu na důchod. Každopádně bych ale ocenil, abych nemusel dalších 35 platit víc do kolabujícího systému...
Pokud vím, tak šetření ombudsmanky bylo už uzavřeno, Foletti avizoval, že se bude bránit soudně. Taky doufám, že tak nepůsobíme, ale myslím si, že to zásadní nám naštěstí chybí - chtít vědomě manipulovat s ostatními a vytvářet si okolo sebe kult.
No idea... maybe the publisher thinks that this more for the American readership, which is willing to pay more.

Včera jsem byl na celofakultním setkání děkanky, na kterým se snažila vše vysvětlit. Samozřejmě nemohla být konkrétní, ale odešel jsem s tím, že institut Ochránkyně práv MU pracuje naprosto nezávisle a svědomitě. Muselo to být opravdu závažné, když tím FF MU ztratila jinak velmi schopného akademika.
I spent my undergrad at what was then an LFG hotbed, consequently our syntax classes were all in the framework. I'm sad to report that it never really made much sense tbh... although it's not like linguistics has found a way to directly test frameworks against each other anyway!
