I'm jealous!! But happy for you that you made a new work friend :)

...to the point that people constantly compared other games to these originals. Slay the Spire basically redefined both roguelikes AND deck-building games as a genre. You will find elements of StS in completely different games like Against the Storm these days. If that's not innovation, what is?

02.03.2026 13:07 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Really? Then what would you? Telltale's TWD, Papers, Please & Obra Dinn and Slay the Spire are a couple examples of games that, while they obviously didn't invent something from the ground up, were all so influential that game mechanics were copied by dozens, if not hundreds of other devs...

With Papers, Please & Obra Dinn, Lukas Pope managed to single-handedly create two very novel games back to back that spawned a number of clones. And that wasn't too long ago. No reason to think that innovation will stop here.

Absolutely. Think of all the new highly influential genres of video games that have spawned in the last two decades and the many, many subgenres thereof. Battle Royales, Walking Sims, the myriad of innovations in the roguelike genre, many mystery games w/ innovative concepts (Hypnospace included)...

Hast du Goodbye Lenin! gesehen? Imo one of the better movies to come out of Germany in the last two decades (well, two decades and a few years actually)

Have you played the first one? It's good too and only a few bucks in Steam when on sale

I played the other two games in this series and they're pretty good! Excited to check this one out. The mystery in the two predecessors is... alright, but what really sells these games is the fantastic character writing & voice acting imo

Pah, don't even try it. Shannon knows full well that I don't care for bananas myself and therefore would *never* use them as a sexy euphemism.

I was pretty amazed to find out that banana juice apparently isn't a thing that's very common in the US.

Come to Germany and pour yourself a nice glass of banana juice

Thomas Mann became less and less conservative as he got older, and was staunchly anti-fascist. Less left-wing than some of his family but hardly right-wing.

Have you ever tried a Spezi? Almost every brewery sells their own these days for some reason. Paulaner is the most popular one, I think they sell a zero sugar version as well.

I'm kind of glad that this is being made, cause it's obviously gonna fail spectacularly, and it's gonna be one more very high profile example of showing investors that no one fucking wants this shit

Yesss that game was great! They just released another one called Strange Antiquities that has really good reviews as well, I've had it wishlisted for a while

Yeah MelinoΓ« is a goddess through and through and she never really questions power structures at all. Empathy towards mortals? Sure. But just the superficial kind.

At one point she calls Prometheus a thief and it's like... Why in the world would you even care about that Mel? lol

A complete list of everything I read in 2025. Reached my 25 book goal by the skin of my teeth by finishing Kafka's Der Verschollene just today.
