“It’s the same old genocidaires using the same old playbook. Murdering… Bombing… And then playing the victim.”

Arundhati Roy warns that the world is on the brink of nuclear calamity & economic collapse, and laments her own government's gutlessness.

Israel Denies Palestinians Access to Bomb Shelters as War on Iran Continues Public focus on Iran has allowed the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians to continue unabated, says journalist Orly Noy.

In Israel, reports are growing of discrimination against non-Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel attempting to seek shelter from Iranian drone and missile attacks. While Jewish neighborhoods are “well protected” by bomb shelters, shelters are much rarer in Palestinian neighborhoods.

Wasn't she a good friend of Harvey Weinstein who people knew was a sexual abuser? Her husband endorsed a fellow sex pest, Andrew Cuomo, for NYC mayor. And of course people just ignore that shit because they're Dems.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

Biden supported Israel's genocide with *our* taxes that we could have used for healthcare. Harris said that Iran was a major threat to our country and she wanted a more lethal military. Schumer is happy to bomb Iran. There is no way that you are this ignorant.

You're an asshole who wants to drag people from their houses & be killed for saying that disabled people should apologize when they harm others. FU!

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.

A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

It's not the genocide, it's the term "genocide," that "will haunt Jewish life for years to come."

'Even in Russia, they don't treat children like this': A family's nightmare in ICE detention A Russian couple and their children sought asylum in the U.S. In a Texas detention center, they say they endured worms in the food and hourslong waits for medicine.

This post is really taking off. I know the Thanksgiving detail is grabbing, but I would encourage everyone to also read the full article about this family’s struggle at Dilley.

They’ve been locked up for 130+ days.

I spent hours with them on Zoom this week, and their story deserves to be heard.
